The following are the 50 or more count of surnames in the Norwood family lines. We have accumulated close to 13,500 descendents of Capt. John Norwood of Maryland and each year we add thousands. And we also dont have all the branches input yet. Kinzie (50), Davis (53), Green (55), Gibbons (57), Gartrell (59), Hyatt (59), Darby (61), Miller (61), Purdum (61), VanSant (62), Mullinix (64), Falconer (65), Brown (66), Fahner (66), DeVilbiss (72), Thompson (86), Browning (87), King (87), Burdette (89), Hood (96), Mitchell (97), Beall (110), Ford (111), Baker (133), Conaway (134), Smith (134), Brandenburg (150), Hobbs (157), Ridgely (159), Bosley (167), Day (212), Wivell (221), Watkins (267), Moxley (295), Norwood (952) The 9th Annual Norwood Reunion is scheduled for the last Sunday of April, April 29th 2007. Check out the details at the website belowFrederick County Genealogical Society under Special Events. www.frecogs.com/SpecialEvents.htm Because so few of Capt. Norwoods descendents carry his surname (only 952), this reunion has evolved into an old families of Maryland reunion especially the families of Frederick, Montgomery, Carroll, Howard--(the four corners area) and Anne Arundel. But we touch just about every other county in Maryland and Washington DC too! Do you have a relative who happens to have the first name or middle name of Norwood? Wonder where it came from? Maybe they are descendent from a female branch of Norwood. Do you have a great with no surname? My 6th great-grandmother was Elizabeth Norwood who married Nehemia Moxley. At past reunions I have met Beall and Watkins who are closer in relationships to me and we come from different Norwoods. PLEASE COME AND JOIN USEVEN IF YOU ARE JUST A GENEALOGY FANATIC IN THE AREA. The rest of us are certifiably. The treatment is meeting others that are of like spirit. Thank you for replying and for looking up census information on the Steppe family. I knew the Steppe family was an old Cumberland family but had not really researched them past Harman. My kinship is with his wife's family. I have been so disappointed with the abbreviated obituaries on members of my family between 1910-1950. 909 Maryland Ave is where Ida Belle Gordon Steppe was living when she died. My best bet is that Louise married between Harman's death in 1937 and Ida's death in 1950. I am taking advantage of a volunteer at SS Peter and Paul Cath. Ch. to research through their records for members of this family. I have attempted to get into my local LDS FHC some Cumberland directories. Unfortunately they must be a popular item as my order has been delayed as new copies must be made of these films and that involves a request from the vault at Salt Lake. There doesn't seem to be any other records I could access from the LDS FHC library on loan that applies to this timeperiod. I'd welcome suggestions. I do appreciate all the listers who have tried to help. In 1910 & 1900, Louise is listed with her parents. From 1900 to 1920, they lived at 293 Maryland Ave. In 1930 they are living at 909 Maryland Ave. Apparently, she married after the 1930 census. Ida Belle Gordon Steppe died 09 May 1950 listed among her survivors in her obituary was one daughter living in Cumberland Louise JORDAN. I can't locate Louise Steppe Jordan on census records. I found one Louise Jordan who'd fit in the SS Death Index 1991 - Garrett Co., MD. Knowing that the counties are nextdoor neighbors, maybe this is the person I'm looking for. If you have JORDAN in your lineage - please look for Louise born circa 1900. I have her middle initial as "E". Thanks, Karen Nelson Hangsleben

My great grandmother was a Miller. I have no info as to her parents, as I have not researched that side, but would be escatic if I could find some information for her side of the family. My grandmother's name was Mary Louise Miller and she married David Hott. She was born in 1855 and died in 1940. They lived in Carlos and Frostburg, MD. She had a brother, I believe, named Edward Miller, who was a very good carpenter. That is the extent of what I know, and have not gotten into that side of my geneology. Would like to know more, if possible. I have researched the Miller line back to Christopher Miller. John Jacob Miller and Philadelphia Myer are my gr-gr-grandparents. I have Jesse Graham Waddell but only birth and death dates. I have not researched the Waddell line. Can I be of any help with the Millers? Leon
St Gabrie'ls Church is active in Barton but the old records are kept at St Peter's in Westernport.
I checked the type of records and they are the only ones available at the Maryland Archives for public use: St. Patrick Church, Cumberland, Collection Roman Catholic Church Archdiocese of Baltimore First Communion Register: May 1933- April1988 Confirmation Register: 1875-1919 (Partial index, not indexed from 1900 to 1919) Confirmation Register: 1922-1963 Death Register: 1939-1966 Death Register: 1966-1988 Charles H.
I own a microfilm for St. Patrick's in Cumberland. It is not inclusive of all records, some are legally protected. Give me some information and maybe I an help you. Charles H.
