SS Peter and Paul put her with John Alphonsus Vocke(or Walker ) The family said that Walker was American translation for Vocke. This is my gg grandmothers family. The reason that I questioned this was because we don't show him any where in research except here. They had 12 children but none seem to match with this info I received from the church. Just thought it may be an error. If you have any more info please let me know. Not sure if this is the Susan McKenzie you are referring to. If it is, all I have been able to find out is that Bertha's last name was Walker. Sure hope this helps, and if you find out the first name of Walker, I would love to know it. I reposted the link. I don't know why it did that. If you type it in it works. Because I checked and re-checked and it was the correct typing.

Hi Group, Well I got the copy of the death certificate for my great grandfather Thomas Kiddy from the Maryland State Archives. It has to be the correct Thomas Kiddy because it says that he died in Pekin, Allegany Co, MD and that his spouse was Orra Love, and that he and his parents were born in Scotland. But, to my amazement, it said that his father's name was Robert Kiddy, and his mother's name was Margaret Russell. I can't quite make out who it says was the person who gave the info. We had thought that his father was James Kiddy/kiddie and his mother Margaret Ritchie. So, my question is where should I look now to verify this and take in a step further? I looked quickly on RootsWeb and didn't see anything that matched up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Louann Kiddy Creasy Also researching the Dayton side of the family.
For some reason I could not get this link it took me to a different site. But I checked it over and over and it is correct. So you might want to type it in yourself. Since there is a dash in the address and it does not show up because of the link here it is one character at a time. www. wvculture. org/ vrr/ va_ select.aspx I have checked and rechecked and it is the correct characters. Since a lot of people in Alleghany worked in the mines, West Virginia might be a site a lot of you could check for missing relatives. Might be there.
Since your relatives were from Allegany, I took a hunch and check the WVA vital record site. There is the death record of several Kiddys. From Scotland. Here is the address you can check and see if there is a connection. You can pull up the death and birth records. I found a Kiddy whose wife was Ora Love. www.wvaculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx
Are there any other children. You could check out their death certificates.

If anyone on this list digs up any written history on the six mile house I would be interested in it. My great grandmother, Margaret Starkey lived there as evidenced by the death certificate of her son, Walter when he was 12. It states that his place of residence was the 6 Mile house. And it would have been the one west of Cumberland not the one on the east side of Cumberland. Was it an apartment house, tavern/way station etc. Would be interesting to find a written history on it. My grandmother was a Lewis from Frostburg, but I don't have much on her relatives. I couldn't find a Benjamin Franlin Lewis, however my grandmother had a brother who died as a baby, and his name was Franklin. She also had a brother named Frank. Her father was Danile Lewis, who was born in 1844 and came to Cardiff, Wales. He married a Ruth Chaney, daughter of John Chaney and Sarah Fawner. Daniel and Ruth had 8 children, Elizabeth Lovelle (my grandmother), Richard Frank Lewis, Edward Lewis, Franklin Lewis, Hattie Lewis, Anna Lewis and two infants who died at birth. My grandmother, married my grandfather, Charles Thompson. Not sure if any of this will help you. However, if you find a connection, would be appreciated if you would let me know. Thanks. Carol Dinning. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JoAnn" <joanncupp@foothill.net> To: <mdallega@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 17, 2007 4:34 PM Subject: [MDALLEGA] LEWIS families in Frostburg > Looking for parents of Benjamin Franklin LEWIS born 02 Nov 1882 in > Frostburg, MD. married Bessie (maiden name unknown) and living in Peters > Twp., Washington Co., PA in early 1900s. > > I found a 1900 census for Washington Co., PA for: > David L.
