    3. John, I have no idea at this point. All I know is that my father's mother was Nina Mabel Knott born 19 April 1896 in Elk Garden, WV. She died 23 Feb 1954. Her father was William Knott dob abt 1861. Her mother was Indiana Missouri Boyd dob abt. 1865. I think they lived in Elk Garden, and then in Piedmont, WV. That's about all I have. 3. Louann - I save my emails to folders also - they are broken down by Surname, or even specific people (since I do extensive Sprowls research), or my contact names if we correspond a lot, and counties I specifically search. I agree with Ann that it takes too long to search the archives, am much more comfortable when I want that info at my fingertips I know exactly where it is. And I also print out certain messages. The messages that have links to other sites, or specific sites I save to an appropriate town or county folder. I sort thru the messages every once in a while, as there may be duplicate links etc. Ruth

Mill Street was on the east side of Bowery Street and the tunnel and Depot Street was on the other side of the tunnel. 3. Louann, I don't like to use the archives to find something I know I'll want to see again. Takes too long to find things there. In my notebook, I'm pretty particular about what I print. It has to be from a contact I don't want to loose or info that has some actual fact to it that pertains to my line. You're right, it's easy to get buried in paper. I have notebooks for all my surnames that have enough paperwork for. And I try to file regularly but I'm way behind right now....new grandson. ----- Original Message ----- From: "louann creasy" <jcreasy@cfl.rr.com> To: <mdallega@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, July 02, 2007 6:17 PM Subject: Re: [MDALLEGA] Organizing emails > Thanks Ann and Pat, > I do print the ones that I am sure pertain to the relative I am > researching > at the moment. 3. Ruth, Jeff, and everybody else, I thought your Fat kin comments were very funny. I am sure we all got teased in school about our names one way or the other. It's all in good fun. And as I've been learning that in our research we may find out that a relative may have had an "undesirable" name, race, occupation, or whatever, it's all so cool just to learn about these people and how they lived. So keep smiling and have fun. Thanks to you Ruth, you are always so helpful, and Jeff thanks for the Fatkin info. 1. [MDALLEGA] Are there any McMahon researchers?
    2. Lois Zelina
    3. My great grandmother was Bridget McMahon who married John Roan (Rowan). I have found a baptism in St. Michael's Catholic Church for BRIDGET,child of William and Margaret Roan/Rowan born June 19,1856. Sponsers are James McMahon and Margaret Bohan. If anyone has any information on any of these families: Roan/ Rowan, McMahon or Bohan I would be glad to share any info I have on the family. I've been told by family members that the Roan's lived in the Bloomington area. I have not found the family in the census so the info I have may not be correct. Can I connect William Roan/Rowan to John Roan as siblings and perhaps James McMahon to Bridget as siblings? Or at least related? As for Margaret Bohan I think that name appears in other family documents. Anyone researching these families? ____________________________________________________________________________________ It's here! Your new message! Get new email alerts with the free Yahoo! 3. I read, save what I need at the time and then delete daily. You can always find the info again. If the e-mail has documentation I need, I copy and paste to my notes on PAF 5 and write a note to myself to check further. I do know a lot of people who save every e-mail, that's a lot of paper to store. A hint to pass on: To save ink when printing, go to preferences, select draft, then go to advanced and chose "print in grayscale". An ink cartridge lasts a very long time using this method. Additionally, there are two Richard Morgans in Allegany county during this time frame. I have most assuredly eliminated one but can not confirm the other. The one I think is him is listed as "cripple" in the census records - given the reference to asthma it is a good clue - he had a wife and children but they have all led me to brick walls. 3. The Evening Times, Cumberland, March 28, 1905, The Mining Region - rostburg - The many friends of Mr. Richard Morgan were sorry to learn of his death Friday afternoon at the home of his brother, Theo Morgan, at Wright Crossing near Frostburg, from asthma, with which the deceased had been afflicted for many years. Mr. Morgan was born in Wales in the year 1841, coming to this country several years ago where he engaged in coal mining, which occupation he followed up until his failing health compelled him to relinquish it. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon from the residence of his brother. The funeral cortege proceeded to Eckhart Mines under the direction of Gehauf and Mayer, where interment was made in the family lot. The Baptist minister conducted the funeral service at the home and grave. (Richard died on the 24th and was buried on the 26th)

I have many relatives buried there, is your cemetery catalog published anywhere Virginia? It would be a great addition and resource for the Allegany County website for instance. I don't take it either of you have actual photos? I had seen the photo of these tombstones (Michael and Laura Rafferty) some time ago, but seemed to have misplaced it, and would like to see it again since it seems Michael Rafferty's death certificate is no where to be found! Once again, thanks for the help. -Eden ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MDALLEGA-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
