If there's anyone out there who would like a research project... : ) I'm rather excited at the prospect that... Sarah Ann ___ CASTEEL b abt 1750 - 1850 census (Dist. 2, Allegany, MD) (100 years old) with grandson Thomas CASTEEL & family... was she *Sarah Ann ENLOW/INLOW/INLO?* I have followed the path of Thomas CASTEEL b abt 1753 & family 1790 Bedford, PA 1800 Sandy Creek, Allegany, MD 1820 Dist 2, Allegany, MD to 1840 Selbysport, Allegany, MD 1850 Dist. 2, Allegany, MD The ENLOW/INLOW/INLO's seem to move with the CASTEEL's and in 1850 Wm ENLOW is living with Nathan CASTEEL (Sarah Ann's grandson) while Sarah Ann is living close by. In fact, not only is Sarah Ann living close by with her grandson, Thomas, but grandson's William, Nathan & Jesse (& probably daughters/granddaughters that I haven't researched closely) are all nearby. There is a marriage record and a marriage license record for: CASTLE, Thomas & Margaret SHELLING http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/1pa/paarchivesseries/series2/vol8/pass82.html http://www.pagenweb.org/paarchivesseries.html C Surnames Pages 48=49 It's entirely possible that CASTLE, Thomas is Thomas CASTEEL and that he married Margaret Shelling in 1773. BUT... it's also entirely possible that Margaret died - or something - and Thomas married Sarah Ann ____ ... perhaps before 1st son, Jeremiah CASTEEL's birth abt 1775 (if Sarah Ann was his mother?). I'm on the trail and I'll take and appreciate all the help I can get! Priscilla

Finally getting back into the swing of things, and able to devote a bit of time to my research after a too-long hiatus due to real-life and all that.... Digging on some loose ends of my BENNETT line - I have a Howard Stanley BENNETT, Jr., (a s/o Howard Stanley BENNETT, Sr. & Gretel (TURNER) BENNETT), who married a Loraine (?), and had at least four children. In browsing through the posted obits of our esteemed, Mr. Often, I came across a possible match-up. The obituary was for Mrs. Dessie Gladys (BONNER) WILSON, wife of Kenneth WILSON. This obituary is dated 11 NOV 1976. One of the daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth WILSON is listed as Mrs. Laraine BENNETT who was residing in Cumberland at the time of her mother's death. Can any WILSON researcher confirm or deep-six my supposition that the "Loraine" (?) BENNETT & "Laraine" (WILSON) BENNETT are one and the same? Thanks in advance! ;-) Jerry
Hi Don, I subscribe to a newspaper archive website and volunteer to search for many on the list. If you send me names , est. dates of who you are looking for , maybe I can help. Please be sure to give me spouses/children/parents if known to assist in the search. (not knowing your family, I wouldn't know which George Miller was the one you are looking for - example). Another place to search are the Cumberland Times that Charles Often has posted. Do you have the link for his listings? Ruth Sprowls
Cumberland Times. Ort Library at Frostburg University and Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore. You should be able to find them at either location. Good Morning List, Can any one tell me what newspapers would have been in business to print obituaries in 1914, and where those archives might be located? Thank you, Don Sheaffer

I am trying to find the parents for Jonathan Hamilton b: 1831-32 in Cumberland MD May have been a school teacher about 1850 until he resigned and chased the CA gold rush then went to Australia in abt 1853. His father may have owned a plantation in the area. Dave _________________________________________________________________ Need a new place to rent, share or buy? I would guess that he would be one of Connie Beachys Hamilton family. My Hamiltons were all miners, and didn't immigrate til 1869, and no Jonathans in the family. Ruth
Linda, thanks for the leads. I am not even sure it would have been Allegany co. I am betting on Baltimore - Thanks again. Has Becky contacted you regarding the Harden research? ruth
Ruth I found any August Limbert age 34, in Baltimore Co in the 1860 census on Heritate Quest. I also know that the Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore has Allegany Co newspapers on microfilm, some as early as 1841. I bet she can find his name spelled wrong many times, Lambert, Lembert etc. Linda Harden-Lantz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ruth Sprowls" <[email protected]> To: "MDALLEGA" <[email protected]> Cc: "John P Gerdeman Sr" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 8:25 AM Subject: [MDALLEGA] Where to search in Maryland - assistance please > Good morning to everyone - I received a plea for help from a > "Sprowls cousin". Good morning to everyone - I received a plea for help from a "Sprowls cousin". She asked where to search in Maryland for her 2nd great grandfather Charles Limbert. He was born in Germany around 1822, does not know where. And he died in Maryland around 1851, no location known. His wife was Elizabeth PRACHT. Elizabeth 2nd husband was Henry HORR. Elizabeth and Henry HORR went to PA and WV , and Elizabeth died in Sandhill and buried at Mt.View Cem. in Dallas, WV. The cousin has info on Elizabeth, but no further data on Charles LIMBERT. I have no idea where to tell her to begin. (other than searching county websites for Limbert info and starting at 1840/1850 census for Limbert in MD. I don't know what census info she has. And early ships lists for that time period (1820s to 1850s) hard to come by. What Maryland state archives are available online? Where should she start her search? HELP...... I just don't know where to start with this. Thank you so much for any leads/suggestions. John -any suggestions for locating records in Germany? Ruth Sprowls
My latest work is with the Sumner Cemetery that is on Yale Street just off of Baltimore Ave. in Cumberland,Md. I did searches on http://www.newspaperarchive.com and found 108 names to list. 12 of these names are of Civil War Union soldiers. this link will take you to one of the soldiers, http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsr=41&GScid=2293857&GRid=33966064& My information on the UNION SOLDIERS was in the "Evening Times" in May 26,1911 page. 5. I have put all my work sheets in a 3 ring binder and will send it to the Genealogy society shortly. This will not be a complete list of those buried it Sumner Cemetery but Its a start. Joe Mckenzie
