I found Henry Topp as a boarder in the household of Albert Groves, in Allegany County. He was listed as single and 62 years old.

Sometimes a family gives the male members of their families the surname of a relative as his given name. I have seen Riley, Aylor, Moffett as first names, so maybe his mother or a female relative was a member of the German/Jerman/Jarmans/Germaine family. Might be.

Who is trying to find out the father of Harden/Neymyer/Uhl I am heading out to San Francisco tomorrow with a yDNA kit. Hoping to find out which Harden line I fall into. While reviewing all the yDNA information I was contacted by Tom Hardin who forwarded a census record (1870 Fayette Co), to me on a German Harden... Now don't confuse that with the country of Germany. This mans first name on the census record is GERMAN. Tom said his real name was Isaac Harden. Now Isaac Hardens I know about, and one is in my line. But I had never heard of this "German" wonder if it could have been "Germane". Oh the things we find sometimes are amazing. This man has a wife named Abigail and a son named George W age 15 d, Elizabeth 10, sons James 6, Charles 3 and . I was going through some papers in the basement and ran across my grandfather's (Charles Albert Groves) funeral book. In the back someone (most likely Hazel Groves Hansrote) wrote some genealogy information into it. I saw a person listed that I had been researching, but was never able to find his date of death or his spouse. The info stated that Henry TOPP was born 15 January 1863 and died 29 May 1941. He was married to Josephine HODEL (daughter of John HODEL and Mary TWIGG). I would like to verify the information, but would especially like a lookup in the Cumberland paper for his obituary (and for the more adventurous his birth announcement). Thanks in advance.
