I found this definition on the web Marriage banns, also called the banns of marriage, serve as a formal announcement of intent to marry. By tradition, marriage banns are called in many Christian churches, including those administered by the Church of England and Catholic churches. As previously posted, Henry was living with Albert GROVES, my grandfather. My grandfather was a blower of artisan glass. My mother told me that Albert blew some of the most beautiful pieces of glass you would want to see. Albert later became partner in the Wonder Bar on Virginia Avenue in Cumberland. Henry's parents Lewis and Mary TOPP both attended St. Patricks and are buried in St. Patricks cemetery in Cumberland. I have a terrible habit of helping others search for their families, and neglecting my own data entry. With all that I have to do over the next few months to get my own data prepared for 2 reunions, I must knuckle down and get busy. So, please save your questions and problems for me until after August and I will try to get back to all of you after summer is over. (it is so much more fun to search for articles than it is to do data entry into the family tree. ugh) I also will not be sending any obits/articles to the volunteers, unless I locate some while doing an occasional search for my own research. Hoye has listed John DeWitt (s/o Peter & Rebecca) as being married 1st to Sarah Hartman and then 2nd to Louisa CASTEEL (d/o Shardrack CASTEEL Jr.). John and his two wives are buried in Hoyes Cemetery, Garrett, MD. Who is the father of Shadrack Jr. if there is a Sr.? Shadrach & Laurena had no daughter named Louisa to my knowledge.
