    3. Pat, I took a trip to Cumberland recently and found volumes of divorce records in the court house. I suppose you wondered about online records, but if someone can check in person, they're available. The records I found were in the 19-teens and there were many other volumes. 2. Hi Pat, I just received divorce records that I ordered from the Maryland State Archives. It did take longer than a normal vital records request, (probably 6-8 weeks) but it was definitely worth the wait! The records I ordered were from the late 1880's and from the 1910's. Good luck with your search, Maeve Miller ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2009 5:38 pm Subject: [MDALLEGA] Divorce Records To: [email protected] > Can someone tell me if Maryland divorce records are available > for > researching? > > Pat > **************An Excellent Credit Score is 750. 3. Pat I have a copy of a divorce record from Allegany Co in 1905 on my great grandmother Margaret Almeda Blubaugh from Calvin Davis. Very colorful. So I know they are available, don't know what year you are looking for but I bet you can find it if privacy years have lapsed. Linda Harden-Lantz

Elizabeth was born in Allegany County, Maryland - the record gives her mother's name as Elizabeth Waxler, but no name for a father. John, a farmer, was born in Mineral County. This would suggest that David Nelson Thrasher's father was probably dead by the time the 1870 census was taken so the household would not be indexed under his name. Since David and his siblings were born in WV, and Elizabth remarried in WV, you may want to try Mineral County or Hampshire County as a place to look for them. Hampshire County marriages for that time period are not on line, but you find the marriage of Elizabeth Robison and unknown Thrasher in the Hampshire County records. > Chere, this may help. > I can't seem to find the Thrashers on the 1870 census. > Jocelyn in Ohio > > 1880 Census - Place: Rawlings, Allegany, Maryland > Source: FHL Film 1254493 National Archives Film T9-0493 Page 155B > Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace > John WAXLER Self M M W 56 WVA, Occ: Farmer Fa: WVA Mo: WV > Elizabeth WAXLER Wife F M W 45 MD, Occ: Keeping House Fa: MD Mo: MD > John Thos. 3. Sam, Off the top, we cannot be of much help, or offer a proper answer for your question at this moment. However, we will look into and do some research, in order to see if we can be of help. Carole's grandparents: (grandfather a grandson of Andrew) her grandmother, through other relatives had position of the trunk, her mother was a Bowser. She being from Somerset County. I think that was the way it was. I will really have to get into the information and Carole's files and get back to you. 1. Re: [MDALLEGA] AGBI
    2. Richard Day
    3. I have used the AGBI once at the Wisconsin State Historical Society. It seems to contain any references to a name that has been published in old genealogy works. For me, looking up Perrin, it gave a mostlyf references to the Massachusetts Perrin's and New Jersey Perrine's, but did include material from the Kent Genealogy (published privately around 1930) regarding my family in Maryland. It therefore was helpful to me at the beginning of my research. So finding something in it is what one can call a stab in the dark. My impression is that if you have been working on a family for a long time, you probably have found all the original references for what the AGBI might contain. 3. Hello Ellis: I'm wondering if by chance there might any mention of any Bowsers (Bauser, Buser) in the material you inherited. The reason I ask, in the 1850 census there are 3 "Bowsers" listed on the same page, 4 visits away from what appears to me, to be your Andrew Dietle. These 3 are a complete mystery to me. They are only found in the US in 1850, are listed as all having been born in "Germany"; which means that if they were related to the other Bowsers in the area, the relationship would necessarily have to go back 100 years to the old country. 1850 Federal census, Maryland, Allegany County, District 2, page 40 or 20b (SK Image 20b; Ancestry.com Image 4 of 44) for Dist. 2 taken July 23, 1850. Dwelling 267 Family 270 "Andrew Deihl", WM age 44 (1806), Laborer, $300 Real Estate, born in Germany. "Mary", WF age 40 (1810), born in Germany. "Mary", WF age 8 (1842), born in MD. "Catharina", WF age 3 (1847), born in MD. ............. 1850 Federal census, Maryland, Allegany County, District 2, page 40 or 20b (SK Image 20b; Ancestry.com Image 4 of 44) for Dist. 2 taken July 23, 1850. All born in Germany. Dwelling 271 Family 274 "Henry Bowser", WM age 23 (1827), Farmer, $350 Real Estate. "Louisa Bowser", WF age 24 or 26 (1824-1826). "August Bowser", WM age 24 or 26 (1824-1826). Neighbors- Andrew Deihl (Dietle?), Samuel Leikel(?), Levi Conner, James McGittigen, William Merrill, Francis Sambaugher. Next page is Salome Sarah Bowser & family, widow of Peter Bowser, born 1804. ............. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ellis L. and Carole G. 3. What kind of document and how much information can be gotten from ordering copies of the AGBI (American Genealogical-Biographical Index) from the Godfrey Memorial Library? I've looked at the Index on Ancestry and have found names of possible ancestors, but I'm wondering what the a AGBI really is. Priscilla

    2. How lucky for you that you had retained the family bibles. I retraced my steps more than once and found a long lost cousin by using the telephone search now available via computer. He had signed his grandmother's death certif. as a young man. My introductory query went from VA to IL to AZ and wasn't he surprised to hear from me! I was thrilled to get his reply and confirm I'd found him. Karen -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ellis L. and Carole G.
