I am looking for the Wesleyan Memorial Park in Spring Gap, Maryland . More specifically, I am looking for several ancestors' graves that are supposed to be in this cemetery, per findagrave.com. Oddly, findagrave reports that only eight people are buried in Wesle yan Memorial Park, all of whom are relatives of mine. According to the map and GPS coordinates from findagrave.com, the Wesleyan Memorial Park is located where the current Mount Taber United Methodist Church Cemetery is on Old Oldtown Road. H owever, I checked every headstone in Mount Taber and could not find any of the folks for whom I was searching , namely : Lloyd Stallings (1798- 1879) (My great-great-great-grandfather) Mary Rachel Robinette Stallings (1802-1881) (My great-great-great-grandmother) John Hanson Stallings (1821-1892) (My great-great-grandfather and one of Allegany County's first County Commissioners) Amy Anna Twigg Stallings (1821-1911) (My great-great-grandmother) Elizabeth Stallings (1840-1855) Eva Mae Stallings (18 69-1876) Francis Marion Stallings (1846-1871) Naomi L. Stallings (1854-1872) Can anyone point me in the direction of the Wesleyan Memorial Park? Also, I would enjoy sharing Stallings Family History with fellow researchers. Thank you! As I started this email I had 44 weeks worth of newspapers. I have to sort articles, alphabetize, copy and paste the dates/publication to each one, before I can start posting them on the site. It takes quite a while to get them ready for posting when they come as whole papers, but I'm getting it done. Yesterday I got 47 of the obits posted, which does not seem like a lot, but it took over 7 hours to do those. So I am working on it. Many thanks for sending your contributions. Everyone, I have used PAF from the Family History Center when I first started in genealogy, then I tried the free version of Legacy. I really liked it. I was going to buy the deluxe version of Legacy when my husband bought me a new computer, a Mac. So I had to get Reunion. I really like it and everything transferred over from Legacy without a hitch. It does everything that I want to do for now, and more. I would recommend Reunion to any Mac users out there. I have it too, and it does have a steep learning curve, but also has some features most other programs do not have. It handles source citations better than most. Another program that I am investigating now that has many of the features I like in TMG but may be easier to use is Genbox.... My parents were married in 1955, at the First Methodist Church on Bedford St., in Cumberland. I am writing a family history, of sorts, and was hoping to include a photograph of this church in it. I have searched for this church in a 1964, Allegany County telephone directory that I have, and I have found that this church was, at that time, located at 1707 Frederick St. When I did a search on the internet, I got no hits at all! (This shouldn't be so difficult, should it?) The pastor that performed my parent's wedding ceremony was Everett W. Culp. This was the same pastor listed in my 1964 directory. Could someone, please, lend a helping hand? Thank you, so much!! Does anyone know if there are records from the Miners Hospital? I think it was in Midland. Any info on the hospital would be helpful. My great grandmother Ann Creegan died there in 1893 according to newspaper article. Am looking for an obit for my great grandfather Patrick Creegan (1832-1890). I think he may also have died at the Miners Hospital. Any info is greatly appreciated. Karen Creegan Cooper
My two cents: Legacy is a great program as well. It has the timeline, great reports, it's very easy to use and has all the advanced features for an expert. I love the auto/manual merge feature, calendar etc. and the fact that you can link or unlink people without deleting/re-entering. The source citations, geo locator etc are terrific. The settings allow you to personalize it to your preferences as to what is included, photo size, how it looks, wording, ("Christened" as opposed to "Baptized" etc.) and much more. It is not as expensive as some programs, yet has more features, AND you can get a free (forever) version to try before you buy the Deluxe. I believe there are some limits with the free version, like number of files (5?) or possibly the number of names (1000?) that can be entered. The Legacy team is very responsive and helpful if you encounter a problem and they update the program regularly with additions and fixes at no charge. It will even check once a month automatically when you open the program for updates. You might want to go to an unbiased site that reviews/compares the various programs and see what they have to say. Last year, Legacy was at the top of the list. I do believe that we all have various needs and abilities and we love the program we use because it works for us. A lot has to do with what we get comfortable with. I never could get comfortable with FTM. Genie Editor by Default OurBrickWalls.com
