In the House Delegate H. W. Dawson has introduced a series of petitions forwarded by B. John Black Martin, Maryland State Grange, and approved by that body. One indorses the Torrens system of registering land titles, another approves a bill requiring requiring all horse-drawn vehicles to carry lights while on the highways at night, and a third asks for legislation to so amend the general incorporation of laws that the formation of co-operative agricultural associations may be encouraged. Talbot Boy On Torpedoed Transport. Among the engineers on board the ill-fated transport "Tuscania," torpedoed off the Irish coast this week by a German pirate, was Thomas Earle Cooper, son of Ex-County Commissioner Thos. F. Cooper, of Bozman. The young man was attached to the Company E. Sixth Battalion, Twentieth Engineers Forestry, and at the hour of going to press had not been reported as among those saved. Lieutenant Cooper was a graduate engineer, and for some years had been in the chemistry department at Sparrow's Point, and recently resigned to enter service in the forestry work in France. He was a type of young man that is most admired and the hundreds of Talbot friends of himself and parents ardently hope that his name will appear among those rescued. Charles S. Henry Dead. Charles Steele Henry, aged 62 years, died in Baltimore early Friday morning. His remains will be brought to Easton today and funeral services will be held from Christ Church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Relatives and friends are requested to attend without further notice. Mr. Henry was the son of Dr. and Mrs. James Winfield Henry, of Dorchester county. He was a brother of the late John C. Henry and was engaged with him in the drug business in Easton some years ago. Later Mr. Henry was interested in business in Cambridge and retired about seven years ago. He leaves a widow, Maria L. Henry, the daughter of the late Col. Thomas Hughlett. Old Light Keeper Dead. Capt. Christopher Columbus Butler, for many years a light- house keeper in Chesapeake waters, died on Wednesday in Baltimore at the home of his son, Walter Butler. He was a Talbot countian and a native of St. Michaels, having resided there at one time. He was a soldier in the Civil War, but for more than thirty years, was in the light-house service, having been keeper of Bloody Point, Sharp's Island, and Cragill Channel Lights. A widow, sister of Deputy Register E. M. Jones, survives him. Interment will be in St. Michaels today. Joseph S. Quimby Dies. Joseph Samuel Quimby, of Queen Anne county died at his home there last week, aged 62 years. He was well known in Talbot county. William G. and Thomas Quimby, of near Easton, and John E. Quimby, of St. Michaels were brothers of the deceased, and Mrs. Samuel Hopkins, of Cordova, a sister. He was a most congenial character, consequently his friends, and warm friends at that, were legion, to whom his death comes as a great shock. Interment was in Centreville cemetery on Monday.
