    1. [MDFred] Re Wilcoxon/en

    3. Regarding WILCOXON/EN, BUTCHER AND COE families: I'm also interested in Wilcoxon/ens. My mother, 93, is descended from Benjamin and Emily Hickman Wilcoxon's (original spelling) son, Thomas Jefferson Wilcoxon, who married Sarah Fry(e), and their son, James Wilcoxen (spelling changed in early 1900s) and Alice Coe of Belpre, Washington County, Ohio. Tom's brother, Sam, married Sarah's sister, Mary Fry(e). Benjamin and Emily were married in Columbiana County (southeast Ohio) and I believe came to Ohio from Virginia. We think Benjamin was related to Lewis Wilcoxon who came from Va. to Urichsville, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Many Wilcoxons are still there. Benjamin and his branch settled in Athens and Washington counties, O. We have no clue about the origin of the Wilcoxons, but I have heard the rumor that a Wilcoxon came to America to help Benjamin Franklin establish the U.S. Mint. Incidentally, one of Thomas Jefferson Wilcoxon's brothers was named Benjamin Franklin Wilcoxon. I have many names and dates from my own research over the years and from memories of my mother and her sister who died in Sept. just shy of her 100th birthday. Glad to share. Our Wilcoxen reunion is coming up and the clan will be asking me for new info! Also, I believe my Coe branch is related to the Butchers of Va. (now W.Va.).
