    1. [MDFred] Can I help you?
    2. Hello: For those of you that have been looking for ancestors in Frederick County, I may be able to help you. I use to help frequently, but due to illness, I haven't done much helping for a while. This is what I have: Frederick County, Maryland Will Index 1744 - 1946 This lists the decedent, the liber/folio number, date of probate, and executor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Jacob Engelbrecht Marriage Ledger Of Frederick County, Maryland 1820 -1890 Including fathers, non-Frederick County marriages, black couples, 2nd and 3rd marriages, non-traditional family name spellings, military units in which the groom is currently enlisted, New York Society headliners, royalty, politicians and other information to help the Frederick County researcher. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Jacob Engelbrecht Death Ledger OF Frederick County, Maryland 1820 - 1890 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Names In Stone 75,000 Cemetery Inscriptions From Frederick County, Maryland Jacob Mehrling Holdcraft Mr. Holdcraft wrote every inscription on every stone in Frederick County up to 1966, I believe. His vision became so poor that he was unable to continue. We all owe a debt of gratitude to this gentleman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That completes my resources. Mr. Holdcraft's books were purchased by me about 25 years ago. The other resources were recently purchased within the last year. I am a volunteer for RAOGK, Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness. There is NO charge for lookups. I do this as a service to my fellow genealogists. I wish I could do more. If you would like a lookup, please remember this - - it will take some time and I will do the lookups in the order in which I receive the request. With the exception of one book (noted above), this is for Frederick County only. I have no resources for any other Maryland County. Please list which resources you would like for me to search. Also, list any alternative spellings. I will let you know when I receive your request. Sincerely, Jeanne (Barnhart) Herrod

    3. Jeanne, I would love to find any HARTSOCK/HERZOG marriages, wills, births & deaths. I this seems a lot, but I am trying to find my 3 GGrandfather's family & I believe they may have been from Frederick County before moving to Allegany. William Hartsock was born in 1811, but he died in Allegany County. I need to know who his parents were. He may have had a brother, George. I'm not sure. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! 3. Jeanne when and if you have time I am looking for the surname of Butcher. John and Sophia M. Butcher had a son, Thomas Henry Butcher, christained in 1837 at St Peters Episcopal church in Poolesville, Montgomery Co, Md But it shows that their home was in Frederick, Fredrick Co, Md. I understand that this wasn't that unusual for this time period. When Thomas was about 11 he was living with a Jacob Majors -older gentleman and wife in Poolesville helping with the mill. He married the next door neighbor Keziah Frances Oden in 1859. Thomas Henry died sometime after 1862 as well as wife because their two sons were living with maternal grandparents in Poolesville by 1870. I am trying to find out information about Thomas Henry Butcher's parents(John and Sophia M Butcher from Frederick, Md) and ancestors. I am sorry that is all I know about this Frederick County family. There are three seprate Butcher families in Frederick County and Montgomery Co all living close together but see no connection. There is the German Butchers and two English Bitcher families. I am thinking mine is English because of where the boy was christaiend in an Episcopal church and there is strong indication this family of mine is orginially from Anne Arundal and Eastern shore area of Maryland. But, unfortunely, not definitive proof at this time. In advance, thank you for any help you may be able to give me.
