    3. Dear Marilyn, Would this be the Nicholas Frye who married Anna Maria Bohrer the daughter of Abraham Bohrer? If so, please contact me! I am a direct descendant of John Peter Bohrer, a patriot of the Rev War who was Anna's brother. 1. [MDFred] Hessian Soldiers in Rev. War resources

    3. 5 volume set commonly referred to as HETRINA contains the Hessian units' records of enlistment/recruitment, rosters, and service - the units, names of soldiers , birth year, home village, date of desertion, and more. Very good source. SHEEISCHE TRUPPEN IM AMERIKANISCHEN UNABAHANGIGKETSKRIEG (HETRINA): INDEX NACH FAMILIENNAMEN, 5 vol., published by Arachivschule Marburg, Institut Fur Archivwissenschaft, Marburg, Germany It is in German, but it is easy to figure out the names and columns of information. The Geman postal code has been added to the villages. Village and/or postal code may be incorrect - I wrote to a village church pastor, and he replied that name did not appear in the church records. May have been a village of the same name in another state or the soldier was from "near" that village. This set of books can be found at major libraries (in genealogy collections of large city libraries, and probably in NEGHR library, NGS library, Allen Co. IN library, SLC library - and they may have it on film - etc.). and may be available on loan to members of some of these organizations. I have seen it at the Newberry Library in Chicago. Clifford Neal Smith has published in the 1970s at least 8 books or articles on the Hessians who served in British and American armies, deserters, prisoners of war, etc., plus ENCYLCOPEDIA OF GERMAN-AMERICAN GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH, with Anna Piszczan-Czaja Smith, 1976.
