Carla- If I remember correctly the earliest census you might find him on with his parents would be 1850 and that is the earliest that would list him by name anyway. If you think the family would still be in MD at that time -- try that first--MD (US) census. Check any families with this surname to find the one with the son of the right age in 1850. Joan
