Dear Frederick County Friends: Sorry to send this twice but I forgot to put the subject on it. I am trying to find the parents of Sarah Bobst 1801-1882. She was not married at her parents home which seems odd. She was born in Pennsylvania in 1801 so her parents were probably in the 1800 census of Pennsylvania and possibly in the 1810 census of Pennsylvania. She was married in Frederick County in 1819 so her parents could have been in that vicinity by that date. The only other Bopst/Bobst families in Frederick County in 1820 are Daniel Bopst and John Bopst who were young parents with one child each. I would love to find the Family Bible described below. Please read the following and offer research suggestions: !MARRIAGE: 1819 From the War of 1812 Pension File; John J. Main declares that he is married and that his wife's name was Sarah Bopst, to who he was married at his fathers house, Frederick County on the 25 day of November 1819. GENERAL AFFIDAVIT; Frederick Co. Maryland in the matter of Pension claim of Sarah Mayne widow of John J. Mayne. On this 5th day of June A.D. 1880; personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for the aforesaid county, duly authorized to administer oaths, J. Philemon Creager [Attorney], aged 72 years, a resident of Frederick City in the county of Frederick, Maryland, certifies that he has this 14th day of June 1880 examined the family Bible of John J. Mayne, late of Frederick Co. Md. Published by Jesher Harding at No. 57 South Third St. Philadelphia, Pa. in the year 1851 and in the family record contained therein was recorded the following- John J. Mayne and Sarah Bopst were married on the 25th day of November 1819 by the Revd. Jonathan Helphenstine a minister of the German Reformed church and he further certifies that he believes the above record to be true and worthy of belief. I sure would love to find that Bible.
