    2. Hi everyone, I received the Will Index in today's mail. I ordered it from Paw Prints. What a terrific book! First thing I found was a female ancestor that I never would have believed would have been in there. I recognize so many names. Well worth the $35. I intend to purchase the marriage and death books also. Now I have a question. I know how to order copies of these Wills. It is .50 a page. However, how do I know how many pages a particular Will has? I won't have a clue how much money to send. Anyone have any answers? Jeanne

    3. To save postage (twice), time, and a letter asking how many pages, then sending the amount they tell me, I usually write a check for $3.00 and send with my request for deed or will (with book and page number). I tell them if it is more, I will send more; if less, consider the extra a donation for the preservation of their records. This has worked well for me with a number of counties in the US. A few are trusting and will send the document before payment; a few will accept only money orders. If the wills are abstracted and in the order recorded, you can tell how many pages by the starting page number for the next will recorded, though the end of one will and beginning of the next are usually on the same page. They didn't waste paper by leaving a blank partial page. 3. Jeanne: May I ask if your will book for Frederick County has a listing for a George Bowers about 1780-82 (if it has dates). I don't want to order it if it doesn't have this information as this is my brick wall. Thanks so much for checking. Lee RIpperger

    3. Jeanne, When I ordered the will of my g-grandfather, John Thomas Meredith, probated in 1888 from the Frederick County courthouse, I did it by telephone and was told they would bill me. When I ordered the will of my g-g-grandfather, Thomas Meredith, probated in 1828 from the Maryland state archives also by telephone, they asked for a credit card number. Let me have the date of the will you are looking for and I will try to find out from whom you should order it. I am now trying to find the will for the next generation back, Simon Meredith 1729-1828, who may have died in Chester County, PA after living in MD from about 1770. Do you show a listing for him in your will book? Thanks, George Meredith Nuetzel Jeanne764@aol.com wrote: > Hi everyone, > I received the Will Index in today's mail. I ordered it from Paw > Prints.
