    1. Re: [MDFred] More German names
    2. Re German names, I've been searching for several years without success for a clue to the origin and family of Eleanor Felker. She was the second (or possibly third) wife of my gr gr gr grandfather John Bartlett. They married in St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown in 1812. John was Church of England, so I'm guessing Eleanor probably was German Lutheran. Anyone know of Felkers (Voelker, Vogler, etc.) in Maryland or southeastern PA? There was a rumor that Eleanor was PA Dutch. John and Eleanor moved to Washington County, Ohio, around 1820. Thanks! Saint John was the most popular saint and was often the spiritual name of all sons of any given family. > > David A. > > Joanne Huntsberry wrote: > > > Fred, some German names in Frederick Co., MD in 1790 beginning with Francis are: Hoffman, Kisinger, Winbegler (was Windbugler) Klienhart, Mantz, Mett, Michaelhein and Sanbach.
