Hi, I'm new to the list as well as Frederick County-area research. I've nearly connected my 4-great-grandfather, Ludwick SNYDER, with the parents that a great deal of circumstantial evidence clearly shows are his. Now, I need to do a great deal of follow up research. Ludwick, it seems, was born in Sept. 1768, on Catoctin Mtn., Frederick Co., son of Jacob and Maria Magdalena (BISSINGER) SCHNEIDER. Jacob was an immigrant supposedly from Wurtenburg, Germany, and evidently a Moravian. Jacob died at the age of 53 in 1778, and a Michael Snider, presumably a brother, acted as administrator of the estate. There were ten children who received a share: John, Jacob, Abraham, Elizabeth, Magdalen, Daniel, Christiana, Lodewick, Ann Mary, and Barbara. I have yet to track any of these people in any Frederick-area historical sources. Jacob was supposedly a Rev. War veteran, so I need to access those Maryland records, as well. I would greatly appreciate any help or direction in my Frederick County research project.
