There is a Henry Hoffman under the category of men who served who can not be placed into a specific company. The only information is: Hoffman, Henry born 1757, applied pension. There is an initial HWN, which means that the information came from H.W. Newman's Maryland Revolutionary Records, Balt. 1938, 67. " Lieutenant Colonel Stricker, was the Captain of Light Infantry Company, in Colonel William Smallwood's Maryland Battalion formed in 1776. [27]* Major Weltner, was 1st. Major of the first Battalion of Frederick County, Militia [28]*." *sorry for not including what [27] & [28] mean. There is a multi-volume German compilation in major US libraries called "Hetrina" detailing the Hessian soldiers unit records (enlistment and service). There is also a quarterly publication by the Johannes Schwalm foundation which has a lot of information on the Hessians soldiers who stayed in America. I subscribed for a couple years as I have one who was a prisoner of war at the Hessian barracks in Frederick MD and married a local girl. They lived across the river in Loudoun Co. VA. The area had been settled by many Germans so the Hessians blended in very well.
