Carla- The 1850 (and later) census might be a place to look for Frank with his parents. You could also look for wills and church records. How about Civil War records--he might have served. Joan

    3. Annie, when I read your note I thought it might /could open a door somewhere! Thank you for the encouragement. The ancestors and any info on them that I am despertaely searching for is: John Charles Hankey. He was suppose to have married a Jane Cook. Three known children are James Columbus, Anna, Roy and possibly an Arthur. Also, James Columbus married Josephine Doris Mason. They moved to Ohio where she died. They took her back to Hagerstown to be buried. As far as I can tell they were from Weaverton and Hagerstown, Maryland. I know Josephine Doris Mason had a sister named Elsie but I know noting else about her yet. There is tales that the Hankeys(Henke) came from Rotterdam, Germany to Pennsylvania,to Maryland. I have nothing yet to find John Charles Hankey and Jane Cook much less find where they came from and anything about their families. If anyone runs across any of the above please remember me!! It covers court judgments in Frederick County between 1748 and 1765 ONLY -- so someone born in 1847 is not going to appear in it. Joan

    2. Dear Barbara: I was wondering if you could look up Frank Marion Hale in your book? He was born 3/28/1847 in Jefferson, Frederick, Md. Don't have his parents names. He had a brother named James H. Hale, and a sister named Della who married a Hawker and stayed in Adamstown, Md. Frank moved to Farmersville, Oh , married Sara Angeline Puls and had six or seven children. Would appreciate any information on Hale's in Jefferson, Frederick, Md. Cordially, Carla F. Hale

    1. Re: [MDFred] Lookups
    2. Jeanne-- How kind of you to offer to do lookups! If you could possibly find the time (I'm sure you're swamped with requests), could you please lookup up Alexander Baust in your Cemetery Inscriptions and your Will Index? If there is a cemetery connected with the Baust Lutheran Church, he should be buried there, since he was instrumental in beginning that church. If it gives a wife's name, could you also let me know that, too. I do appreciate your time and effort. Barbra
