He was a cooper. They lived on Prince St until 1862, when they moved to Allegheny, PA. Johann Heinrich Frederick STANGER reportedly came to Baltimore because he had a brother living there. He also reportedly had a sister living in Staten Island, NY in the 1850's. Their parents were fine cabinet makers, according to family legend. Johann and Catherine had these children: Carl Heinrick STANGER, b. 1854, George Anton STANGER, b. 1857, Elizabeth Anna STANGER, b. 1859, Dorothea Sophie STANGER, b. 1861, Catherine Margretha STANGER, b. 1863, Heinrick Moritz STANGER, b. 1865, and Catherine Rebecca STANGER, b. 1871.
