The Birth Index which is on microfilm at the archives should have the information about his parents but will only have their first names (not his name but we have a month and day so we should be able to identify him), date of birth and record number. The actual record should have mother's maiden name, father's name, place of each parent's birth, family address and father's occupation. Some of these rolls are used extensively and the beginning of the roll seems to have the most use and may not be readable or even missing. If he was born in 1880 the information should be at the end of the roll which is good but 1881 starts another roll so it is less certain that the information is available. Once we get the number of the record from the index we can go to a microfilm containing the actual record. If this is unsuccessful you might try looking at a death certificate. He probably lived well past the time when death certificates became really useful around mid 1900's. There is an online index covering a short range of years. On that ndex is Minnie W Albiker, died 1944/05/03 record G16864 roll CR48,270 and also Mary A Albiker died 1945/05/09 record G28722 and roll CR48,274. There is also a more cumbersome index available on line which covers all the years at: http://mdvitalrec.net/cfm/dsp_search.cfm Even though this index is a little harder to use it is well worth the time that it takes to use. You would probably start with Baltimore City index. If you know he died in a county you would start with Maryland Counties Index instead of Baltimore City.
