My wife's gg-grandparents were George Reuben Cropper (b. circa 1857) and Sarah Anne Cully. This George Reuben Cropper was a son of the Reuben Cropper who died in Cecil County in 1888, and I assume was also a son of Emily who died in 1878. George Reuben Cropper and Sarah Anne Cully were married 2 September 1884 in Galena, MD (from "According to the Church" by Trish Surles, and from a marriage certificate, both of which were sent me after my posting). George Reuben and Sarah had two children: Sarah Emma Cropper (my wife's great-grandmother) and (another) George Reuben Cropper (1886-1918). Sarah's husband George Reuben Cropper walked away from the family, probably sometime around 1890, and was never heard from again. I have been unable to find out what happened to him. Sarah remarried in 1894, to a Sylvester Price. The 1870 census (Baltimore) shows, in the household of Reuben and Emily, in addition to children Susan and Reuben, a Joseph, Mary, and John. When Reuben (b.circa 18280 died he was living in a tenant house at Mt. Harmon in Cecil County and was making his living as a fisherman; son George Reuben (b. circa 1857) was living with him. Sarah Cully lived in Kent County but her father Joseph was also a fisherman - I am guessing that that is how the two families met. My wife and I have not as yet visited the cemetery in Baltimore (we live about 50 miles away but are not real familiar with driving in the city - and I must say are a little hesitant to do so). I would love to trade information with you. I can be contacted at: ameadows@dol.net Thanks again for the information!
