    1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] CRISWELL/Creswell in Baltimore
    2. Hello! I'm a newby to this list. My Baltimore city surnames are: CRISWELL/Crisswell/Creswell/ Cresswell; DAVIS; LANE & WOODEN with connections to GOSSAGE/Gorsuch; HEADINGTON. My first Criswell to Baltimore was RICHARD CRISWELL, an immigrant from Stafford, England, born 1720. He Married MARY WOODEN in 1746. They had the following children: WILLIAM, ELEANOR, RICHARD, BENJAMIN & JAMES. He ended up in what is now Carroll co., MD. RICHARD, the son, moved to Brooke co., VA after the Rev. War (he served 2 tours) & died in Ohio co., WV. There are some interesting given names in this tree: ENOCH, EPHRAIM, ELIJAH & JEHU. I hope to hear from somebody! Best Wishes, Donna Mollaun

    1. Re: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Weire and all it's variant spellings
    2. Virginia L. Aldridge
    3. Our Weire line arrived in America from Ebershuets, Germany or Hesse Kassel in 1832, according to an obituary from 1900, a bio printed in 1937 and census records. They arrived with four children and in 1836 my ggggrandfather was born in Baltimore, MD according to the Civil War pension papers filled out by him. The family moved to York Co., PA had three more children and then moved to Van Buren Co., IA and had their last son. A daughter married in York Co., PA in a Lutheran Church in 1846 and one of the eldest sons was a minister in a German Methodist Church in Van Buren Co., IA. This all being stated to lead to finding the possible church in which the son born in Baltimore, MD might have been baptized. If anyone on the list can advise me, what churches were in existence and still continue to have records from baptisms in the year 1836. I am looking for a baptism for William H. Weire born 28 February 1836. Parents: Christian Ludwig Weire and Maria Wilhelmina Stebensen Weire they are both listed as born in Ebershuets, Germany and Hesse Kassel is listed on the census. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards, Virginia L. Aldridge Evansville IN
