My family, the Batchelors, were sailmakers. I don't know about an apprentices but I do know that many families' genealogy can be gleaned from the LDS Family History film copy of applications to join the War of 1812 Society. I don't know the actual # for it but I will check. Sadly, although my ancestor was a member, his records are not on the film.
