He is not buried with his parents and siblings in Ohio,so I am wondering if he was buried in Baltimore. His name is Alden Emmons and he died 19 July 1862 while in the Civil War. I believe he did not die in combat, but rather died from disease, possibly in a Baltimore Hospital. Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks! Deb

Deb The VA's National Gravesite Locator (http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1) does not list an Alden Emmons. It does list an Alfred Emmons: EMMONS, ALFRED MUSC C 10 NJ INF DATE OF DEATH: 05/14/1862 BURIED AT: SITE 1863 SOLDIERS HOME NATIONAL CEMETERY Soldiers Home is in DC. Obviously not your guy, but the closest they had. This just means that he is not buried in a national cemetery (or if he is, they have no record of him). As far as I know, there is no list of all veterans buried in private cemeteries. -- Thomas M. Sommers -- tms@nj.net -- AB2SB
I wouldn't be so quick to say that this is not the same person. My GGUncle's name was John Henry Gelwicks. He was captured and imprisoned in Andersonville but was later transferred to Charleston Prison where he died. I searched for his grave and finally found it at Beaufort, SC. under the name of T.H. Gallanicks. JD Rodgers The VA's National Gravesite Locator (http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1) does not list an Alden Emmons.
