Mona says: Ha, ha! Me, too! My oldest immigrant ancestor had the bad grace to die the same week Mt. Carmel opened! So, he was not buried there, where later ancestors are all nice and listed in the books (even if most of their graves have not been located--mainly due to me not owning a backhoe). It took a long time (years) and several visits to several city cemteries (and a lot of bluffing--"I know my grandfather said he was here!") before I finally located him just this past March at Baltimore Cemetery--he was indexed under his widow's name! The good news is that there were other relatives in the plot. The bad news is there were also some "strangers" in the plot. So I don't know if these strangers are really relatives I just haven't placed in our tree, or if the plot was subdivided and sold to real strangers. It seems I spend an inordinate amount of time looking for info on people who turn out to be not related--and for some perverse reason I always find more about them than I do my own people! Hang in there, Gary--your guy will turn up somewhere--he can't have gone too far, right?? Cheers, Mona

    2. Hang in there, Gary--your guy will turn up somewhere--he can't have gone too far, right?? My motto concerning the dearly departed is that they can't run, but they can hide. I figure once they get buried somewhere, they stay there (usually . . .)
