From my 1936 directory I noticed that the restaurant at #1273 had a telephone but the residence at #2443 did not. Maybe when he was filling out the draft form, they asked for where he could be most easily reached so maybe he changed his mind after entering 2443 and figured the place with the telephone would be better than a place with no phone that he was probably renting (assumed since the homeowner symbol was missing).
