Children are Andrew, Martha (married Joseph Hinton), Emma (married a McKenzie), Frederick (married Alace ?), George (married Mary Cooley), John Edward, and Clara (married Charles H. Miller). Andrew was a cigar maker, would love to be pointed to some articles about the cigar industry in MD. Thanks!

I can't help with the Sewels and Hawkins but my g.grandfather was a cigarmaker with a firm in Baltimore called Gail & Ax who were at 28 Barre St. His name was Heinrich Schaeffer (changed to Henry Schaefer) and he emigrated from Germany in 1849. I'm told my grandfather and g.uncle used to roll cigars on my grandmother's dining room table.
