    3. Dawn, Any records would likely be at the National Archives, the repository for Federal records. You can start looking here for more info: http://www.archives.gov/research/guide-fed-records/groups/092.html http://www.archives.gov/research/guide-fed-records/groups/092.html#92.11.2 John -----Original Message----- From: md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Mark & Dawn Sent: Monday, July 23, 2012 12:13 AM To: MD-BALTIMORECITY@rootsweb.com Subject: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] George Marion WALTER in Quartermaster's Department during Civil War - do records exist? I am researching George Marion WALTER who lived in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born Dec 1843/1844. He married Mary Eliza WALTER ( a cousin) on 5 Nov 1866. He died on 7 Jan 1919. His obituary states that he was in the "Quartermaster's Department of the United States Army during the Civil War." I have searched for military records for George Marion WALTER to no avail. The 1910 census indicates that he was not a veteran of the Civil War. Do military or other records exist for men who worked in the Quartermaster's Department? If so, where would I find these records? Thank you so much for any insight that you can offer.
