His obituary states that he was in the "Quartermaster's Department of the United States Army during the Civil War." I have searched for military records for George Marion WALTER to no avail. The 1910 census indicates that he was not a veteran of the Civil War. Do military or other records exist for men who worked in the Quartermaster's Department? If so, where would I find these records?
