    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JMK57 Surnames: Kennedy, Kane, Kenny, Parks, Trageser, Kratz, Dempsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8320/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking at a naturalization record for my gr.gr. grandfather, Martin Kennedy. One of the witnesses was Bridget Kennedy. My question is whether or not a person's mother (or other relative) could be a witness for your naturalization record? This Bridget Kennedy found in census records is the right age to be Martin's mother, but the fact that she is a witness on his naturalization record makes me wonder if she was perhaps an Aunt who arrived earlier than he? Which brings up another question. How accurate are the number of years residence that people give in their naturalization records? Was there some sort of guideline for minimum years of residence prior to naturalization? Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions!
