Greb, was born in 1914, not 1941. The typo caused me further confusion till I checked the SSDI. I did a lot of searching in the Baltimore Sun for you. There seem to have been a few Grebs in the city and many death notices and other articles. You might want to check some of them out in the future. The one most obviously related to your current search was a listing of Charles Greb and Catherine Schindle's marriage application in July, 1919, which I've attached. He was 24 and previously widowed. She was 26 and previously divorced. It appears Charles and Catherine divorced before 1930. John C., born in 1914, was from his first marriage and John C.'s mother died sometime between 1914 and 1919. Her maiden name was almost definitely Gartner. On a hunch, I checked the 1915 Baltimore City Directory. I've attached images of the Greb and Gartner names in 1915. You will see that Charles W. Greb and Karl Gartner both lived at 21 n Curley. I didn't look, but you can probably find the wife's first name in earlier Censuses with Karl Gartner and/or the Harold Gartner listed in 1930. Charles probably stayed close to the Gartners and moved back in with them after his divorce. After you find her first name, you should be able to find her listed in the Baltimore City Death Index at http://www.mdvitalrec.net/cfm/index.cfm From there you can order her death certificate, if you can't go to the Archives. You can also check many City Directories (up to 1922) online at http://www.lib.umd.edu/RARE/MarylandCollection/MDResourceGuide/digcitydir.html If that link doesn't work, look for them at www.archive .org This has gotten pretty long. I hope it helps you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
