That may be when he used another name. In 1900 Joseph G.(?) Hoghendoner lived in Pittsburgh Ward 27, Allegheny Co., PA He was 6 years old. The transcriber typed G. as his middle initial. On the original, it looks more like a T. Parents George and Elizabeth. Siblings John.19, Mary M.13, Katie 14, George S. Jr., 12. In June of 1917, his draft registration card says Joseph Anthony Hockendoner was b. Nov. 5, 1893 in Pittsburgh. He worked as a compositor at Standard Sanitary Mfg. Co. and he had an ailing wife. He was short with medium build, brown eyes and brown hair. He had a very legible signature. In 1920, he lived in Pitts. Ward 18. Wife's name was Helen . They had 2 children George 2 and Helen 10 mo. His wife's maiden name apparently was Dockerty. A sister-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law named Dockerty lived with them. He was a printing compositor. (That was one of the trades taught at St. Mary's.) On 1942 draft registration, he and Helen were living at 417 Winston St. in Pitts. If you do not belong to Ancestry.com, the best way to get a first-hand look at a census is to go to your local library and ask for help in ordering the microfilm from Washington. You will have to pay for the rental and it takes a few weeks for it to arrive. You must read the whole reel on the reader provided at library. The film cannot leave the library. Again, that takes forever. Good luck, and hope the above info helps. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
