Joseph R. Strejcek of the 2300 block of North Charles street, won a dismissal on the child beating charge after both parents testified that he punished the child for telling a serious lie about a neighbor. Magistrate Meredith L. Hoffmaster, who heard the case said "I don't condone child beating, but under these circumstances, I can understand it." Strejcek received the three month sentence after pleading guilty to the charge of assaulting his wife, Ella, on Wednesday.
