Author: jsiemon Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8289.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: S My recollection from a previous posting is that you live in Maryland (maybe western) and have traveled to the State Archives. If so, did you know that you can get free access at home to the Baltimore Sun archives, Sanborn maps and many other of the Pratt Library's online databases? You just need to visit any Pratt library once to register. If you have a card from another Maryland library, they register that in the Pratt system and you use the same card you already have. With all of your Baltimore names, you may find much more info than the death notices you are asking lookups on. This is free if you live in MD, $50 if you live out of state. Here's the link with info: http://www.prattlibrary.org/services/librarycards.aspx?id=58530 John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Mary "Lizzette" Dietz b. Dec. 1872
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mandsdietz Surnames: Dietz, Mendes, Mondel, Seligman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8284/mb.ashx Message Board Post: seek info on families "Lizzie" Dietz lived with after 1900. Lizzie was orphaned, along with brother, at early age. Initially they lived with their father's eldest brother's widow and family. In 1910 Lizzie DEITZ, misspelled surname, was living with the John D. Mendes family: wife Pauline, children: Miriam and Bertha, Jacob Martin, and Alice and Jacob Seligman. Alice Seligman is living in the Jacob J. Mondel home in 1920 along with his family: wife Pauline, children: Bertha and Miriam, and LIZZIE DIETZ. Alice is sister-in-law of JOhn/Jacob. This is obviously the same family but surnames are screwed up. Can anyone tell me about the Mondel or Mendes family and any possible connection to Lizzie who died in 1937??????? Am hoping for contact with family members who might remember Lizzie and her brother, William Frederick Dietz. help greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! I would definitely check out the site of the Baltimore County Historical Society. You can even email them directly from there. Also, have you considered checking to see if William either left a Will or even if he didn't leave a Will, there may have been a record of an Administration Account which might show something. Those would be at the State Archives in Annapolis, MD. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: tree1919 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8283.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi - I searched The Sun archives which start in 1837 for an obit or article for both William and Martha and could not find one for 1866 for either one. I also checked genealogybank.com (national newspapers) as well and couldn't find any. Findagrave.com has William listed as having died on 30 July 1866. Martha is also listed in there as having died 22 April 1866 so though they died the same year, if Findagrave.com is correct, it was different dates. I also saw where they are buried at St. James of My Lady's Manor Cemetery in Monkton. Maybe you can google whoever oversees the cemetery to see if there might be some records? I saw in the census where they lived in Monkton which is Baltimore County. You might also try contacting the Historical Society of Baltimore County at http://www.hsobc.org/. If you need the direct links for Findagrave.com, let me know. Good luck with your search! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
