I am researching George Marion WALTER who lived in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born Dec 1843/1844. He married Mary Eliza WALTER ( a cousin) on 5 Nov 1866. He died on 7 Jan 1919. His obituary states that he was in the “Quartermaster's Department of the United States Army during the Civil War.” I have searched for military records for George Marion WALTER to no avail. The 1910 census indicates that he was not a veteran of the Civil War. Do military or other records exist for men who worked in the Quartermaster’s Department? If so, where would I find these records? Thank you so much for any insight that you can offer. Sincerely, Dawn

Thomas and Lucy do not appear in the marriage license records of MD State Archives. Lucy's obit mentioned Copy Washington papers so there is a Washington connection of some type. Thanks! The index doesn't list his age so maybe. The Pittsburgh city directory lists him as a machine operator. The one in Baltimore listed his occupation as a tailor in 1910, but he could easily have switched jobs. Thanks - I'll check this out! In Sept 1910 he married Deborah MacCracken. According to the announcement in the paper they were returning to Pittsburgh. But he re-appeared in the Baltimore city directories for 1912-1914, gone in 1915. Deborah is my husband's gg-grandmother. By 1920 she was married to someone else (Oliver Dotts). I'm trying to figure out what might have happened to Frank between 1910 and 1920. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am looking for information on my great grandmother Katherine Kornke Lukenich, family members have said she died in a car accident in 1928, she was estranged from my great grandfather George Lukenich at the time of her death. I can't find an obit on her and I have looked in every cemetery that the family has burials in and I have found nothing. Any help as to where to go now would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Michele

Seymour and Mary E. Goodman had a marriage license issued 4 Oct 1859 in Baltimore. They would be a good candidate for the family you are researching. A quick search on ancestry.com shows a Mary E. Goodman, about 6 years old in the 1850 census in Baltimore living with father Ed C. Goodman, bootmaker, born in MD, and mother, Martha Goodman, also born in MD, along with several siblings. This might be your Mary E. Seymour, but more research would need to be done to confirm that. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
