Specifically, I'm trying to find out information about my gg grandfather John Myers who was born @1823. He immigrated to Kent Co., Ontario, Canada in 1849 -- just one year before the 1850 Census, unfortunately. Right now, I'm researching the possibility that my John Myers was the same John Myers who was a member of the congregation of the African Methodist Bethel Church in Baltimore and participated in a suit against the trustees of the the Church as of Jan 31, 1849. Any information at all will be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm 18 years old and I live in Normandy, France. I'm member of an association named Fleurs de la Mémoire which finds godparents in order to take care of graves located in the American Cemetery, St Laurent-Sur-mer. I take care of two graves, my twin sister and my dad too. Each time we visit the beaches we put flowers near the soldiers's graves. My father sponsor a man named Byron L Goins. We found his family and his photo. It is wonderful. I obtained some documents on him and his service when he was soldier. I have a paper from the Army effects bureau inventory and it seems Byron had a photo on him when he was killed. There are remarks about the photo : "information taken from photo relationship unknown Miss Gevena Stamey 111 W Mulberry Street Baltimore, Md." You'll find this crazy or stupid but I would like to find this woman. She may have been the girlfriend of Byron L Goins. unfortunately I have nor more informations about her. Byron died at the age of 21 I guess she had the same age. Please if you find something, let me know. Thank you in advance. The connections you were making in your latest post mirror what I was considering yesterday while scrutinizing the 1836 map John provided to me. I can't thank you enough for your help over the last two days. Your leads give me more confidence with my own research, and I will be able to use the wills images for the many other families I've been researching over the years. So glad to know I don't have to make a day long trip to the Archives (I'm an hr away and can only get down there on Sats) for this type of searching anymore. thanks again. -Donna Carter Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe that the Samuel Black in the early Baltimore Directories living on Bishop's Alley may be your Samuel Blackard. He disappears from the directory in 1835 (the year of Samuel Blackard's death). He shows up in the 1830 census on ancestry.com as Samuel Blach. In the 1820 directory he is listed as Samuel Black, carter, Bishop's Alley, W side of Queen. There is a Mary Blacker in the 1810 census. I am finished with my Beard Research for now. Good luck in your research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
