I'm in touch with an american friend who spoke with the sister-in-law of Byron Goins and I learned Geneva Stamey was from North Carolina. She went to Baltimore to work in industrial plants, moreover it was the place where she met Byron. They became friends and she gave him her photo. She was a wartime romance for Byron. My friend added She later married so I guess it's possible to find some members of her family. Thanks for all Amélie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had no problems visiting the cemetery. I think we were the only visitors there at the time. Attached are the photographs, which gave me Charles and Frances's birth dates. It also suggests that Charles had a middle name starting with W, however, I have found no other evidence to suggest this. In addition to the shared gravestone, there was also a family plot marker- however, there were no other Towson graves in the area. I did like someone's mention she might be a war correspondent. There is an older Stamey man living in Baltimore at the time, who could be her father. I never found her listed at his address or census. I've sent a couple e-mails to some TN memorial sites for their fallen heros to see if anyone there knows anything. I've gotten one response back, but no real information. I'll have to look for a local newspaper to see if they might be interested in this story, that may be the best chance we have. I don't know that I found an obit with his parents and siblings names, that would help too. The hunt is on! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Her name was Mary Alice Unknown Knauff. She had three sisters; Naomi unknown Bailey, Erma Unknown and Francis Unknown. I have attempted to search for the four sisters to lead me to thier common maiden name. But have not gotten any where, both Naomi and Mary lost sons to the same auto accident and there are numerous Baltimore Sun articles, but no hint to their parents. One of the sister lived on N Poppleton ST in 1917, but I think the article might be mistake as my grandmother was white and the population of N Poppleton St was black in the 1910 and 1920 census. (I could be very wrong about that assumption.) She passed in PA, they are 6 mos behind in send out death Certificates. 3. What you could do is check with your library. Then if they have Heritage Quest, you need your library card and can log in free on line. They don't have 1940 but Familysearch.org has that. So if you don't want to spend the money you could go that route.
