Attaching an obit from The sun dated 27 Oct 1891 regarding Della J. Bunce, age 26. I believe Della is a nickname for Adelia and that the "J" probably stands for maiden name of Jenkins. Unfortunately, not much information is given. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: BMANZKE Surnames: Bunce, Jenkins, McIntire, Rau Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8339/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have two new discoveries in my family tree that I would love information about, but I can't get access to from where I live in Ohio. I have discovered from the index of Maryland Marriages on-line at the MSA site that my great-grandfather, William David West Bunce, married Adelia Jenkins on 25 Jun 1889. They subsequently had a child (gender not known) on 27 Apr 1890. (Cert# A-21145) My great-grandfather was listed as a widower when he married my great grandmother, Ellanora Rau (nee McIntire), on 16 Aug 1897. I have nothing on the Rau connection either. Would someone please look to see if they can find any information on Adelia Jenkins Bunce and her child. They are a complete mystery to me. 3. I believe you are looking at old listings on web sites (found by Google) that try to market by listing companies. They update their listings about once every ten years and are very misleading. I found several listing Read Drug and Chemical Co. at 6317 York Road, with a phone number of 410-828-9759. That's in the Drumcastle Shopping Center, just south of Towson. There used to be a Reads Drug store there but it's been gone for at least 5 years, possibly 10. That phone number is not in service. The Yellow Pages has no listing for Reads. -----Original Message----- From: md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Marge Sent: Friday, September 14, 2012 7:06 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com; md-baltimorecity@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Read Drug and Chemical Co. of MD That is true but there was a Reads Drug and Chemical Co. Author: jsiemon Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8333.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Your grandfather, John C. Greb, was born in 1914, not 1941. The typo caused me further confusion till I checked the SSDI. I did a lot of searching in the Baltimore Sun for you. There seem to have been a few Grebs in the city and many death notices and other articles. You might want to check some of them out in the future. The one most obviously related to your current search was a listing of Charles Greb and Catherine Schindle's marriage application in July, 1919, which I've attached. He was 24 and previously widowed. She was 26 and previously divorced. It appears Charles and Catherine divorced before 1930. John C., born in 1914, was from his first marriage and John C.'s mother died sometime between 1914 and 1919. Her maiden name was almost definitely Gartner. On a hunch, I checked the 1915 Baltimore City Directory. I've attached images of the Greb and Gartner names in 1915. You will see that Charles W. Greb and Karl Gartner both lived at 21 n Curley. I didn't look, but you can probably find the wife's first name in earlier Censuses with Karl Gartner and/or the Harold Gartner listed in 1930. Charles probably stayed close to the Gartners and moved back in with them after his divorce. After you find her first name, you should be able to find her listed in the Baltimore City Death Index at http://www.mdvitalrec.net/cfm/index.cfm From there you can order her death certificate, if you can't go to the Archives. You can also check many City Directories (up to 1922) online at http://www.lib.umd.edu/RARE/MarylandCollection/MDResourceGuide/digcitydir.html If that link doesn't work, look for them at www.archive .org This has gotten pretty long. I hope it helps you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
