The company I hired may have had some employees helping on his end, but here it was just my wife and I. This was Bill Hackley's site we rebuilt and are seeking new stuff to put on the site, it is a ton of fun so far, if you have info of a family member send it to me and I'll add it, same goes with pics, just scan them and send them, we'll add them, we want nothing more than to put police on this site, and help preserve the work they have done to make the department what it was when I joined. Anyway the city directories at Ancestry are searchable but I have an actual hard copy from 1929 that i looked at. Between Fayette and Monument Sts. there are 4 actual blocks and a 280 stall market. There are many "confectioners" that could be your "ice cream shop".Not sure about the church in the area but there are "Methodist Episcopal" churches listed. Do you have any additional information that might help pinpoint the location better, i.e. family name. Let me know and I'll look again. It includes a street directory; i.e. it lists streets and the residents and business on them by address and intersecting streets. North Chester St between Fayette and Monument is on page 2181 (image 1091, two pages per image). The image is not very clear, and you have to be a subscriber access the directory. I did not see any Ice Cream shops there, and there did not appear to be, nor are there now, any Episcopal churches in the immediate area. Bill- re: your posts on Rau. My great grandmother was a Rau also. Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Rau Goldsmith born about 1861 in MD or DC. Lived in Reisterstown area. Have you found any info on Ellanora McIntyre Rau? I guess she married a Rau before she married your great grandfather? I have discovered from the index of Maryland Marriages on-line at the MSA site that my great-grandfather, William David West Bunce, married Adelia Jenkins on 25 Jun 1889. They subsequently had a child (gender not known) on 27 Apr 1890. (Cert# A-21145) My great-grandfather was listed as a widower when he married my great grandmother, Ellanora Rau (nee McIntire), on 16 Aug 1897. I have nothing on the Rau connection either. Would someone please look to see if they can find any information on Adelia Jenkins Bunce and her child. They are a complete mystery to me. I also searched for a Bunce obit from 1890 (when child was born) to 1900 when you see William Bunce and second wife Ellanora in census without the child born 1890. Nothing found. The age is right, and there wouldn't be any other Bunce family members of that age with that name. It is about a year after the child was born. With a quick Google search, looks like it was about 1988 when Read's was bought out by Rite Aid. They update their listings about once every ten years and are very misleading. I found several listing Read Drug and Chemical Co. at 6317 York Road, with a phone number of 410-828-9759. That's in the Drumcastle Shopping Center, just south of Towson. There used to be a Reads Drug store there but it's been gone for at least 5 years, possibly 10. That phone number is not in service. The Yellow Pages has no listing for Reads. -----Original Message----- From: md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Marge Sent: Friday, September 14, 2012 7:06 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com; md-baltimorecity@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Read Drug and Chemical Co. of MD That is true but there was a Reads Drug and Chemical Co.
