Maybe when he was filling out the draft form, they asked for where he could be most easily reached so maybe he changed his mind after entering 2443 and figured the place with the telephone would be better than a place with no phone that he was probably renting (assumed since the homeowner symbol was missing).

If she died after Death Certificates started her father's name may be on her death certificate. What is her religion? Checking church records for baptisms may help. Checking news papers for her marriage may show who her father is also. Good Luck Greg

    1. Suggestions for locating person with only first name
    2. mona everett
    3. Hi, I know this is an odd question, but maybe someone has some ideas. I have been trying to locate the birth father of my great-great-grandmother. We always knew her as Eliza Jane Kirk, daughter of John Kirk, but in his will he lists all children BUT her, making me wonder if she was born to someone else and raised by John Kirk and his wife. She was married before the US census listed anyone but head of household, so that doesn't help--I know you can search the census with first name. John Kirk is listed as her father on her marriage bond and much property was transferred (sold) between the 2 families after her marriage. I tried to search by first name and birth year and state at familysearch.org, but they don't allow it. Any ideas? She was born in 1826. Court records, while available back then, are sketchy and often illegitimacies were kept quiet. I know it is possible she was left out of the will for some other reason, and she actually WAS John Kirk's natural child, but normally such a child would at least be mentioned. She was still alive when her "father" died and on good terms with him. Thanks! Mona

Yes, this name is strang. It, I have found out, is Greek. Unusual for the generations of my family have stuck to marrying Americans. John Paul's wife, Mildred Kirby, is actually my line. In trying to piece together her past, I am now facinated with this name, and who these people were. I have never found any children either. I have only just found out about the "Confectionary" they owned through newly released 1942 Draft Reg. Someone did send me a Polk Cross Ref for another address (of which was also on the draft reg, so, I know they must be related somehow), that shows "Felfag, John and Reese, Cora B Mrs.". I have tried EVERY way possible to hunt this name, with not much luck. But good idea to look for inflection in a name, as well as the spelling.

    2. Seamen's Union Bethel of Fells Point and Sailor's Union Church in Federal Hill were not filial congregations and were not otherwise connected, at least not in any of the documentation and research that I have come across. None-the-less, an inquiry to the Lovely Lane Methodist Archive would probably give you a definitive answer. The Federal Hill church building still exists and I think the congregation is still extant. That church was affiliated with the Methodist church at first, being home to what were called "Shouting Methodists." Today that church stands as a landmark and is called (because of a pastor who came and went quickly) to Bible Baptist Church. The church, I believe, was and is independant. Some of my family went there in it's Shouting Methodist days. If this is the second location of the church you name it is possible records are there. As the church was so unlike the mainstream Methodists of it's day it may not have had affiliation the Methodist Episcopal. They are very rich in tradition and the last I was there even had a large ship hanging from the ceiling. I have a feeling they might even have old records. You could try. Gloria
