I did call the Archives. They were open all day Thursday and Friday, so whatever the problem was did not have a major impact. I did get down there Friday. I had a lot of requests and got info on some but not all the requests I got. I hope to send what I got to individuals tonight or tomorrow. If you sent me a request, I will get back to you one way or the other. MdArchives brought to mind. Does anybody know when they will be able to post the rest of the country online death certificate. I read a post where they said they had pulled the programmers to enter land deeds and would start on the death list when they were finished. but have heard nothing since.

Hi Listers I am researching Doyle relatives in Baltimore Maryland and am hoping that someone familiar with Baltimore Maryland and registrations etc might be able to help me out. I would like to find more information on Thomas K Doyle, Annie Doyle nee Madden and their daughters Sarah Ann Doyle and Mary Margaret Doyle and son John Doyle. Thomas K Doyle was born 1st december 1897 in Abbey Leix in Ireland .Thomas was a railway employee according to the SSDI. He died 1st August 1987 in Baltimore His wife Mary Ann Doyle (aka Annie) nee Madden was born 22nd July 1892 in Co Roscommon Ireland. Annie died 7th May 1987 in Baltimore Son John Doyle born February 1930 in Baltimore-------further information not available Daughters Sarah A Doyle born 7th June 1928 Baltimore died 24th July 1999 Mary Margaret Doyle born 7th December 1923 died 9th November 1998. I have found the family in the 1930 US census living at 429 Lafayette Ave Baltimore City .They owned their home.Thomas is listed as a Sealer on the Steam Railroad. Thomas and Mary Ann(Annie) married in 1919 but place of marriage is not known.Nor is their date of arrival in the US. I know daughter Sarah A Doyle was the last surviving member of the family so brother John must have died before 1999. Neither of the daughters married. I hope some lister who is familiar with Baltimore City will be able to give me some advice. Thanking you in Anticipation Marion PS Mary Ann Doyle ( Annie ) nee Madden was my great Aunt the children being my 1st Cousins once removed
Hi, There are a couple of things you should do. I would check the Ellis Island web site for information on their passage to US. I would also check the 1900, 1910 and 1920 US Census. If you have the dates of death you can write to the Enoch Pratt library for a free death notice and obituary if any. This could also show the cemetery that they are buried and the church they were buried from. The church records could be a source for marriage, baptism and confirmation. As you have some dates of death go to the MD State Archives web page and search for their death certificate. Unfortunately, the archives no longer will send you a death certificate. You may pursue this through an independent person. There are some persons on the Internet who will do this for you. Death Certificates are very important to genealogy because of the information contained. In addition to this you could check the Baltimore City Directories for their names and where they lived. The directories are like phone books before there were phones. You should also check phone books. This should keep you busy for awhile. Genealogy is not as easy as you think and most of the work has to be done by you. The B&O RR also has a library where they have lots of records of RR employees. Most libraries have census records but it you can¹t find one that has them check with your local LDS center. Enoch Pratt may also check Directories for you if you are not able to go there. My earliest known Rathell ancestor was Abel Grace Rathell born in Baltimore, MD 20 March 1808 according to his tombstone in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington, MS. We do not know if it was Baltimore City or County. We have found on Ancestry some Rathells back to 1600’s and around 1850’s to present, but none between who could be his parents. Is anyone researching a Rathell line that could include my A. G.? His children were named Frances Rebecca b. 1842, Mary b. c. 1845, James Arthur b. 1847 and my direct ancestor Zachary Taylor b. 1849. All children were born in MS according to censuses. His wife was Mary Connor/Cannon (can’t read death certificates well enough to tell) born 1822 VA. Possibly they married in MS or maybe VA and came to MS by 1842. Any help would be appreciated, and I can share many offspring with other researchers. Hi, I'm having a problem finding others connected to the Dashield/Dashields family. The names are variants of Dashiell and they are from the eastern shore originally. My great-great-grandfather was John Dashield of Wicomico Co. He married Nancy Reed of MD. They were both born in the 1810-1815 range. They lived in Baltimore where John was a huckster. He died sometime around 1855. They had children William H, Margaret, Eliza, and my great-grandmother Anna, who married James Knox Polk Kirby of Baltimore. I'm looking for the parents of John and Nancy as well as more information about this Baltimore family. Much is written of the Dashiells but where the name is used as a variant connections are lost. Thanks so much. I am trying to find information on my elusive REDING ancestors. John Reding (Reading)is first found on the 1860 census, 7th ward, Baltimore City. In the household were: Dorada Monday, 57, Saxony, John Reading, 27, Hesse Anna Reading, 30, Bavaria Frederick Reading, 9, Maryland Caroline Reading, 7, Maryland Elizabeth Reading, 48, Hesse 1870 census Redding, John, 38, Hesse Darmstadt Anna, 38, Hesse Darmstadt Caroline, 17, Maryland (invalid) Barbara, 14, Maryland John, 9, Maryland August, 7, Maryland Elizabeth, 5, Maryland Rosa, 2, Maryland By the 1880 census John Reding and his children are now with his second wife Christina and her children (surname ZULAUF). The 1900 census has John, Christina, their two sons Charles and Louis and granddaughter Mary Schultz. this census also says John was born in Missouri and his birth is July 1827. The 1910 census has John, Christina and granddaughter Mary Schultz. this one says John was born in Germany and immigrated in 1827. I have John's death certificate. It says he was born 30 July 1832 in Germany. He died 27 April 1917 in Highlandtown. They lived at 313 S. third Street. His obituary says he was 84 years old so that goes along with the birthdate on the death certificate. The only children I've been able to trace (from first marriage) are Elizabeth (1865-?) who married Louis Deise and Rosa (1868-1889). Any information on this or related families would be very much appreciated. This is my biggest brickwall.
