Sorry, I can't answer the wage question. My Dad's info from the Railroad Retirement Board included a page with these items for each year -- Year - Service Months - Earnings, Reporting Employer and Occupational Category. They also sent me pages of his compensated service rendered prior to Jan 1 1937 and records of employee's prior service(which reflected name, occupation, date began, date ended, department, and Location or Division). The cover letter said they began keeping their own records 1937. Additional records they maintained on him were limited to service and earnings as reported by his railroad employer. I received my Dad's information in 1999 and some of it was pre-1937 as he didn't have enough railroad service to be eligible for railroad retirement benefits. Dad worked for Norfolk & Western Railway Co.on and off 1937 - 42

I did read and re-read the B&O history and short explanations but still could not figure out that entry "27 1/2 da". Does that mean he worked only 27 days out of each month? or out of that year? Ms. Kanely edited the already published lists from 1842 and 1852 but her notes regarding the entries are sparse. For instance what wage did my Rumney have between those given or did he raise from one to the other within those 27 days? Maybe in the long run this isn't very important but it would make a difference to my knowing his work history over a period of years. I'm sure my next stop is the B&O Museum. All puns intended.
You could send a picture to me and I'll try to recognize it. Probably a lot of us have been to a good deal of the cemeteries in and around Maryland. Hi, I would consider Holy Redeemer as one that has a steep slope. Many of my grandparents are buried there. Parkwood is also a cemetery with slopes. Dear List, I have some photos of my grandfather as a child (about 1925) visting a cemetery. He is with some younger children. I am trying to figure out where this might have been. He has some relatives who were buried in Most Holy Redeemer. The background of the photos I have is very hilly. Just checking, but from what I know about Maryland geography, Holy Redeemer was not a very hilly cemetery. Was it? If the detail is not in the photos themselves, it is possible to have negatives made to see if any detail could be recovered? I'm thinking maybe if I could read one of the tombstones in the background, I could figure out where these photos were taken. Thanks! Emily

Does anyone have the book "Hessian Emigrants to America" by Kurt GUENTHER? I would appreciate a look-up for Henrich LENZ, he arrived in America in 1844 and traveled with a wife and 3 children. I am interested in knowing what date he arrived, what Port, the wife's name as well as the names of the children. Hello List, I just got this from the NY List and thought I'd pass it on. I don't have time to explore it, but it does contain a lot of old Baltimore papers in its list. This is all the info I have, but you might want to check it out--again, like Jim, I am not affiliated with this site at all. Gardenwench, I found census info for Mary and her family in 1860 and 1870. I checked the online 1890 Baltimore City directory and found Mary and Henry. In 1920, there's a census with Lizzie (Mary's daughter) and her brother Albert. I found them under Brocker. I'll send the files directly to you. That's all I have time for tonight as I need to get ready for a trip tomorrow. Hopefully this will get you started.
