    3. Unfortunately I haven't looked at any records yet. What a fellow lister provided was the location of where St. Elizabeth's records are kept (which are not at the Maryland State Archives where I just spent a few days). The records are located at the Archdiocese Archives at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. http://www.stmarys.edu/archives/ If anybody is going there, I could use some lookup help. I won't be back to Maryland to do more research until May. -----Original Message----- From: md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:md-baltimorecity-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Kathy/Tom Sent: Wednesday, November 29, 2006 6:47 AM To: md-baltimorecity@rootsweb.com Cc: flower.freak@verizon.net Subject: Re: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] MD-BALTIMORECITY Digest, Vol 1, Issue 78 Hi. 1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] My DAVIS/REESE/JAMES info
    2. mona everett
    3. Hello, I haven't posted all of this for some time, so thought I'd give it another go. This is the latest info I have on this family--or at least the latest I've put in the computer files. They were definitely spelling it "DAVIES" in Wales and when they first came to the US, but switched to "DAVIS" shortly after 1854. Besides seeking more info on these people, I am especially interested in sharing info with anyone looking for men who were copper men/smeltermen--DAVIES b. abt 1800-1819 Wales/REES(E) b. abt. 1800-1822 Wales/Thomas JAMES b. Abt 1825, Wales, or related families, or anyone who had copper workers move from Glamorgan or Carmarthenshire between 1840-1850 to smelt copper in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. I have a lot more info on other family members, but I am hoping seeing these given names will spark a memory in someone? I also have quite a lot of info on the Baltimore copper industry. Thank you! Friedericka (30)and Maria (9) arrived in Baltimore from Prussia aboard the ship "Anna Lange" on 13 Nov. 1854 along with Maria's siblings Emma (6), Eugenie (4), and Julius (8). There was also a Peter Nickel (22) traveling with them but I do not know the relationship. Christian died in 1889 and Friedericka in 1912; both are buried in Loudon Park Cemetery. Their daughter Maria or Marie may have been the first wife of my great grandfather Johann Martin Herrmann. She is said to have died within a year of their marriage. So far I have not been able to positively establish the marriage or her death. If anyone has information on this family I would appreciate hearing from you.

Hello List, I wanted to thank everyone that responded to my questions regarding the church "First German United Evangelical Church" and especially a thank you to George for helping me to locate burial records of my great grandparents. In the last few days as I was going threw some boxes I had stored and found a bible that belonged to my grandmother who also attended that church. Inside it gives the history of the church and the pastors and time frames. The first pastor was Rev. Andreas Schwartz from 1850-1864. In this bible it is written my grandmother was married at the Messiah Luthern Church, does anyone know where this church is located?? Again thanks so much!! 1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Maryland Birth & Death Certificates
    2. Vital records began in Baltimore City in 1875, the rest of the state began 1898 however compliance was not 100% till much later. Birth certificates in Maryland are private for 100 years unless proof of death of the person can be provided. Death Certificates are private in Maryland for 10 years. After the privacy period anyone can request a copy. Some certificates are available only on micro film, and recent copies have not been microfilmed. I think there are no plans to micro film any more. for more information _http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/refserv/html/vitalrec.html_ (http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/refserv/html/vitalrec.html) For Baltimore city 1875 - 1949 Micro film only For Baltimore city 1950 - 1972 Micro film or copies of original On July 1, 1972 the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Division of Vital Records took over the responsibility of registering Baltimore City deaths from the Baltimore City Health Department, Bureau of Vital Statistics. The separate series maintained by the two agencies became a single series of records covering both Baltimore City and the 23 counties: Micro film copies are available to Oct 1982 recently transferred death certificates are at an off site storage area.
