If so, try the 1910, 1920, and 1930 census--look for Benjamin Love and see what the wife's name is. Good luck! I've tried that dozens of times. I came up with one name in just one census and the birth year was wrong.
I have an ancestor whose obituary states that she has a sister, Mrs. Benjamin Love. However, she had four sisters. I have determined tentatively who this person is but don't have proof to state it positively. She was Catholic and probably married around 1900. Is there anyplace I can go to determine if I have the right person? Thanks for any help.

Barbara, my schedule has been so hectic I can't remember if I answered this or not - if you give me the person's full name and DOB I will look it up when I get in the office in the morning - send it to gmmaryland@covad.net and I will get back to you. As for religion I do not, but I am thinking it is probably United Methodist. I know mom and my grandmother were, and went to the church around the corner. But I can't guarantee that. I look forward to hearing more, and if I find out anything more from my mom, I will let you know.

Now onto our family. Well I'm delighted that we share common ancestry through the Shreck family and I will do my best to fill you in on that side of the family and I'm glad you have found someone with info on your Cornell side. The Shrecks date back to the 1700's in Baltimore and many were comb makers. I need to do some more research myself but as time goes on and we share our discoveries I think we'll be able to discover some wonderful things about our family that came before. Just to let you know, there are no headstones for all those burials of our family in Baltimore Cemetery. Seems a shame but maybe they didn't have extra cash for grave markers. Do you know what religion Loren Cornell was? Sometimes church records help a lot with the research. I'll be in touch,! Merry Christmas!!

I did find this (it's what started me looking) that someone else has done. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rant58&id=I6890 My grandmother was Caroline, Loren Jr.'s daughter with Anna Rose Hudson. Loren Jr. also had a child with Sarah V (I think it's Virginia) Miller (Cornell) that is the one they talk about in the census reports for Loren Jr before marying Anna (sometimes called Annie). I have emailed the person with the above tree, but I haven't gotten a response back, especially since I can finish a bit of the info on Loren Jr.'s kids. :) My mom is headed up to Baltimore (she grew up in the same house that everyone lived in at one point) to see her brother who has more info on all this stuff for me.
Hello and Happy Holidays to all: I have been stumped trying to identify the parents of my gr.gr.gr.gr. grandfather, Archibald Parks. He was born in 1766 and can first be found in Baltimore in the 1790 census. He married Ann Bosley in 1789 (her parents are also a mystery). In trying to establish the parents of Archibald, I've got two theories. One is that he is the son of Edward (Edmund) Parks and Elizabeth Sinclair (Sinkler) who were married in 1764 in St. John's Parish. Circumstantial evidence related to naming patterns suggest this couple, but I have been able to find no additional information on children from this couple. No Edward Parks appears in the 1790 census records for MD, although there is an Edward that appears on tax lists for 1793. Does anyone know anything about Edward Parks and/or Elizabeth Sinclair that might relate them to prior or later lines of the Parks family? The other theory is that Archibald is the son of another Archibald. This is from the fact that there is a man listed as Archabel Parcks in the 1790 census for the Lower Patapsco Hundred. However, this is the one and only place I have ever been able to find this man. I've looked extensively in on line sources (i live in the midwest so trips to baltimore and maryland archives are not practical) and have just about given up. My hope is that there is a less conventional resource that will provide evidence. Thanks for any help or thoughts. John

There is a published list of the stones at St James Parish, compiled by the Marlborough Towne Chapter of the NSDAR in 1967, and contained in the volume Tombstone Inscriptions of Southern Anne Arundel County (Gateway Press, Baltimore, 1971). This list is not alphabetized, and it would certainly be more useful to more people as an online searchable database - but these records might be a backup or second reference for stones that are hard to read. This volume also contains the records of All Hallows Church.
