    3. Alphabetical would be far easier (I find it difficult to search after page after page of cemetery listings, the way a lot of sites have it), but it's also very helpful to see who your person is buried next to. It might be nice, if reasonably possible, to have two listings -- names in burial order by cemetery, with an every-name index for all the cemeteries. 3. Greg: We are restricted to text only files, search results list the name of the page where the info is located, you then have to link on that link to see the name. We are only permitted to upload HTML, txt, various image types (gif & jpg) to the servers. No Excel sheets, no database files at all, etc. Real databases in particular are strictly prohibited. And if we upload a file type not permitted we are told immediately to remove it. So it's text only. 3. Nancy: I would have loved it if these transcribers had taken photos, they have not. If there were photos then the arrangement of the 42,000 entries would absolutely be by cemetery not by surname. I don't believe there will be any indication of who shares the tombstone, but there will be some notes, like s/o, d/o, w/o, etc., age if known, etc. I don't believe there were inscriptions listed on any of the original transcriptions from these folks. Here's an example of one of the original transcriptions they did and I believe the new entries are going to be pretty much the same except for the cemetery notation. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tn/mcminn/cemeteries/city.txt FYI: Just for everyone's info, by surname is so far ahead of by cemetery (which is an absolute shock to me!). 3. No Diana, there is no way to do that. First it would be multiple Excel sheets (we're talking about 42,000 entries). Second and most importantly, we are not permitted to put any Excel sheets into the server. So there is no place where any such file could be uploaded for it to be downloaded by viewers. This will be a plain text transcription similiar to this - with the notation of the cemetery included: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tn/mcminn/cemeteries/atkinson.txt (this is one of the original transcriptions contributed by the same couple who have done the 42,000 alphabetical entries) Again, this particular transcription is not in MD. 3. Kathi, Look at the York Co., PA posting of cemeteries. There are many cemeteries listed with different arrangements. I agree that an alphabetical listing is very necessary. Photos are nice, as they allow you to see the other people on the same stone. Nancy Kathi Jones-Hudson wrote: >Linda: > >The choices are only alphabetical by surname or listed >by cemetery. 3. Linda: The choices are only alphabetical by surname or listed by cemetery. The transcribers have already finished and so it's not possible to have a listing by order of graves in any of the cemeteries. They did not do the transcription in a 'walk-the-cemetery' order. Also we have some server space considerations and publishing both versions would be a burden (not to mention tons of extra work!) Again, there's a search feature on the page so if you were looking for Humphrey's all you have to do is type in the surname and all Humphrey's in the county would be listed. Same is true for MD Tombstone Transcription Project and also you can search by All Counties/Statewide if you aren't sure where someone might be buried. The story of Gr.Grandfather Trauty came down through my mother and grandmother. The people who made Martha Washington Chocolates were having trouble with the consistency of the chocolate -- it was too waxey. My grandmother's father (Henry Trauty) or grandfather (Andrew Draude)helped correct the formula. Henry was born 1857 and died in 1934. Andrew was born 1820; arrived in the US in 1850; and died in 1908. My mother talked about going to her grandfather's factory on the street car when she was a young girl. That would have been Henry because Andrew died 2 years before my mother was born. Sorry I can't be of more help. Candy

The street cross check listing for 2443 Washn blvd shows Felfag, John Reese, Cora B Mrs. It's possible that if not related to your relative this person just lived in the same house with them. Her address is listed as 2443 Washington Blvd and her occupation is waiter. The 'do' reference in the 1936 directory means 'ditto' as in also Washington blvd. I still live in the area and i think it's still a store front. Hope this helps. G
