Re: Immanuel Luther Church Cemetery Dear Liz: I have relatives in this cemetery. The records are located at the Church. Immanuel Lutheran Church, Loch Raven Boulevard and Belvedere Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21239. 410-435-6861. I went there several years ago and was able to look in their books. They wouldn't let me xerox them though. I don't know if they ever got them microfilmed, but at the time I was there they hadn't had it done. My relatives name is Walkemeyer. Ellen elwalt123@aol.com
Ellen, Thanks so much for the info regarding the Emmanuel Cemetery. My great grandparents Kleinschmidt's buried their child there after they were only in Baltimore for 4 months from Germany. I am not able to go there since I live in Southern California but hopefully they will give me info over the phone. Again Thanks! Emily, Here's a good article on women and naturalizations. If she said she was naturalized, you won't know what you'll find till you check it out. http://www.archives.gov/publications/prologue/1998/summer/women-and-naturali zation-1.html If she was naturalized in a Federal Court, records will be at the National Archives in Philadelphia. If naturalized in a Maryland municipal or state court, check the MD State Archives. She came from Lithuania to Baltimore in about 1884. According to her census inofrmation, she was naturalized in 1910. At that time, she was married. I received numerous responses that women were rarely naturalized (rarely filed papers) because they became citizens upon their husbands' citizenship/naturalization. So, I never sent for her papers. Researching another side of my family -- immigrants from the Ukraine to Pittsburgh to Ohio -- I have found multiple women (married at the time) who filed separately from their husbands. I am now confused -- is this REALLY a rare thing? I'm thinking it may be worth the effort to send for my own gg-grandmother's papers. I was perusing the list of burials at Holy Redeemer and saw that the list was submitted by Jane Cook. Hopefully, she will see this e-mail. Jane, are you related to the Cooks/Paletars that are buried in this cemetery? If so, would you please contact me off the list? I descend from John and Mary Paletar. Their daughter Mary Cook was my grandfather's sister. Thank you. Betty

Hi Barbara! I love surveys..... It's easier & faster to find people in alphabetical surname order. Gravesites can be listed after the names. Thanks, Donna
# 1 - Alphabetical order by surname with Cemetery name listed. carol Register
I vote for an alphabetical listing. It is so much easier if you know the locality of the burial but not the actual cemetery.
