    3. This struck me as very sad. I checked the 1900 census on heritagequest. They indexed her as Wohlgworth. But after looking at it, it's Wohlzmuth or Wohlgmuth. 7th Ward, Balto MD 1723 Orleans st Jennie, 42, Feb 1858, head, single, Germany, emig 1873, seamstress, can read/write Lena?, 29, Sept 1870, sister, ", ", ", ", " Katie, 28, Nov 1871, ", ", ", ", ", " The only City Directories I have access to (1912 and 13) don't show anyone with this spelling. Closest is a Christian WOHLGEMUTH 1913. Don't see anything even close in 1910 or 1920 census for a Lena or Katie or variation. Hopefully they did marry and this info will reach one of their descendants..... ~ Kathy treenut@bcpl.net > Message: 2 > Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2007 19:17:34 -0000 > From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> > Subject: [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Wholzemuth in Baltimore Maryland > To: <MD-BaltimoreCity-L@rootsweb.com> > Message-ID: <1171739870.80986@rootsweb.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: > Classification: cemetery > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/7441/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Jennie Wholzemuth, unmarried, born in Germany, age 45 years of Patterson > Park, drowned on May 14, 1903. 1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Naturalization and death records needed
    2. I am interested in finding naturalization records for John U. Reding born ca 1832 (according to death cert.)in Germany. I believe he was in Maryland by 1850 as oldest child was born in Maryland ca 1851. I first find him on the 1860 census in the city. Other census records are a bit confusing. One has him born in Missouri in 1827. Another has him immigrating in 1827 from Germany. The 1910 says he was naturalized. Also trying to find date of death and place of burial for Elizabeth Reding born ca 1812 in Germany. She is on the 1860 census with John Reding (Reading) and is possibly his mother. I can't find her on the 1870 census. Also, date of death and place of burial for Anna Reding, wife of John. she was born ca 1830 in Germany. She died between the 1870 census and ca 1876 when John married second wife. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lisa -- http://home.comcast.net/~ronandlisa2/Lisagen.html

    1. [MD-BALTIMORECITY] Reding, Deise, Nizer, Wolf
    2. I am trying to find information on my Baltimore ancestors. John U. Reding was born about 1832 in Germany. His father may have also been named John and his mother was possibly Elizabeth. The earliest census I find John U. in is the 1860 census in Baltimore City. That census shows Dorada Monday, 57 born Saxony, John Reading, 27 born Hesse, Anna Reading, 30 born Bavaria, Frederick Reading, 9 born Marylaand, Caroline Reading, 7 born Maryland and Elizabeth Reading, 48 born Hesse. Anna'a maiden name was Wolf. John (Redding) is on the 1870 census with wife Anna and children Caroline listed as invalid, Barbara 14, John 9, Elizabeth 5 and Rosa 2. By the 1880 census John is married to second wife Christina (Zulauf). John and Anna's daughter Elizabeth married Louis F. Deise. Their daughter, Margaret/Minnie married William Nizer. I have a copy of a newspaper article that says 'Mrs. Elizabeth Deise (nee Reding) and two half brothers filed claims against the estate of Miss Ella V. Wendel of New York.' the two half brothers would be the sons of John U. from second marriage. the article claims that Mrs. Deise' grandmother was a niece of John Gottlieb Wendel, a wealthy fur trader and real estate investor in New York. The grandmother would have to be John U. Reding's mother and possibly the Elizabeth on the 1860 census. Any information on the Reding, Deise, Nizer or Wolf families would be greatly appreciated. -- http://home.comcast.net/~ronandlisa2/Lisagen.html

Your best bet might be the Lovely Lane Museum and Archives: http://www.lovelylanemuseum.com/ The LDS have a film of the records of that church [ 13697 Items 3-6 ] , but there are are not may baptisms included. The Maryland Historical Society have more records. There are also 3 books by Henry Peden covering Methodist records in Baltimore. -- Thomas M. Sommers -- tms@nj.net -- AB2SB

I believe it was 1903, at the same time that birth certificates started giving parents' names. Certainly the new forms were in use by 1904. However, don't be surprised to find the parents' names given as "unknown". -- Thomas M. Sommers -- tms@nj.net -- AB2SB

Hi, In answer to: >Does anyone know the exact or appoximate date that Baltimore >City death certificates were redesigned to include the name >of the parents? >Lisa Certificates I have from before 1900 do not include their names. Post 1900 do. I have a 1904 certificate with the names. The information is not always there or correct, but the space was there for the names and birthdates to be provided. As long as the survivors or nurses/administrators had the answers to provide (unfortunately for me, not often enough), maiden names and birthplaces can be discovered. I've found them both helpful and confusing, but so far they're the best thing I've found that is so easily available. Gloria

    3. The information began to be included at about 1905, give or take a couple of years. For the next several years, there was a mix of new and old forms in use. Some certificates were filed with the new forms and other health providers continued to use the old forms (until they were gone.) No one can say with any accuracy what kind of information will be obtained in those early years.
