Hi, I forgot to introduce myself in my previous email. I live in Columbus, Ohio and I am researching my Kaffenberger ancestors. Specifically I'm looking for a divorce record for Lovina Kaffenberger. I tried to search the web to see what Baltimore court or government agency would have old divorce records sometime around 1888-1910, but have had no success. Anyone have any idea where I should look? Thanks, Rich --------------------------------- Need Mail bonding? Go to the Yahoo! Mail Q&A for great tips from Yahoo! Answers users.
Hi, Does anyone know if Baltimore City School records exist for the time frame 1893-1906? And if so, would you know who would hold those old records? Thanks, Rich --------------------------------- We won't tell. Get more on shows you hate to love (and love to hate): Yahoo! TV's Guilty Pleasures list.
Thanks, Gary, for posting this. I waited until after Easter to subscribe for a month, which was a good decision because it's pretty time-consuming. But what a great site!! I've found a lot of interesting things and I've just gotten started. It's very helpful that the name you enter is highlighted in the document, even though if you put in John Smith every John in the document is also highlighted but it's not really a problem. Thanks again. I've been researching off and on for about 40 years and this is the best sight I have ever been privileged to use. Most vital information is available, but newspapers, especially if you don't live in the area you are searching, are invaluable. Gary, thank you so much for this web address. You have been a wonderful contributor to the Baltimore area research as well. Nancy Ruth Brooks wrote: >Thanks, Gary, for posting this. Yes, it is near Patterson Park -- which is in southEAST Baltimore, but also very close to the present day eastern city limit. It may well have been outside the city limit in 1885. Betty Lou, In 1885, that was in Baltimore County, about half a mile outside the city line, which was at East St (about where Edison Highway is now) until 1918. The crossing is on the 12th District map I sent you a couple years ago. Did you see Gary Ruppert's post on the Sun images from the late 1800's at GenealogyBank.com? Is that how you found your newspaper article? Maybe there was an article on the inquest? I am going to subscribe for a month to try it, but need to wait until after I make a business trip to make sure I have time to use it. Hope you are doing well. I still think of you and the Gunthers whenever I am down around Moravia and Sinclair Lane. I use the quotes however, because although the record is very old, it is a handwritten transcription of the original, not the original original. I don't know when the transcription was done but apparently someone was smart enough to realize that the original originals were deteriorating and acted to save them before they were lost to time. My great-great grandfather was Frederick William Lins and he died in Baltimore City on October 14, 1918. His son Harry Lins and possibly his other son William Lins went to retreive the body and got into a fight with the doctor. I am very eager to see if there is any information about this anywhere. I found the "original" marriage record of our Brashears ancestors there last fall, the only place the record exists. I use the quotes however, because although the record is very old, it is a handwritten transcription of the original, not the original original. I don't know when the transcription was done but apparently someone was smart enough to realize that the original originals were deteriorating and acted to save them before they were lost to time. Good luck. Robin Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thank you so much for this information. I think this must be Jacob. The confusion over the names might be because Jacob was in the same regiment as his brother JONATHAN L. FRENCH who was my gr gr grandfather. I will be in Baltimore again in the next month or two so will definitely plan to visit his grave. Thank you again. Checking to see if anyone on the list is researching the FARROW line. My Joseph Henry Farrow was a state senator in Baltimore in the late 1800's. I would love to connect with other researchers of the name. Terri Farrow _________________________________________________________________ Cant afford to quit your job? Hello, I am trying to find the grave of my gr gr grandfather's brother, Jacob Greenleaf FRENCH, 5th NH. I have his CW service file which states he died at Patterson Park Military Hospital in Baltimore MD on September 16, 1862. He was buried on this date as well. One sheet lists number and locality of grave as 339 Loudon Park Cemetery. The other lists name and number of person interred J.G. FRENCH 1927 with a check mark next to that number. I do not find Jacob listed in the National Cemetery index for Loudon Park. I was in Baltimore over the weekend and spoke to a woman in the cemetery office. She was unable to find anything about Jacob either. Any thoughts from list members more experienced with Loudon Park military burials? Thanks for your suggestions.
