John Vernon Vinup is my father. John, born on July 11, 1900 is my grandfather. Are Fredrick R. and John F, the immigrants born in Prussia, relatives to the people you have listed?? I found them myself on a census but never knew for sure about them. I did know there were tailors in my family, and hoped these were them. Can you give me anymore information??---I hope. Cedar Hill Cemetery was the first public cemetery in Anne Arundel County. Although in Anne Arundel County they are reasonably close to south Baltimore City. They have a homepage with an e- form for obtaining information. http://www.cedarhillcemeterymd.com/home/contact_us.html Also, Anne Arundel Genealogical Society sells a 2 vol set of gravestone transcriptions and interment records. The page has a link to a list of all the surnames buried there. http://www.aagensoc.org/pubs/CedarHillCemetery.shtml There is another cemetery on the other side of Ritchie Highway, called Holy Cross Cemetery which is a Catholic Cemetery. We were at the cemetery a few years ago and there was a sign referring visitors to a church in nearby south Baltimore. It seems to me it was Holy Cross Church at 108 East West Street, telephone number is (410) 752-0205. Someone earlier on the list thought it might be the church on Fort Ave, Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1532 East Fort Avenue, telephone (410)752-0205. Whichever church is was, they were very nice to us. When we got there a priest let us wait in the reception area because the lady who manages the records had made a short visit to the cemetery but was on her way back. She checked her records for the name of my relative but he was not there. After talking to us for awhile she thought I might be looking for a different Holy Cross Cemetery which had been in east Baltimore instead of south Baltimore. She explained there had been two Holy Cross Cemeteries in Baltimore City and the one that I was interested in had been closed and the bodies moved to Woodlawn Cemetery, 2130 Woodlawn Drive, near the City-County line. You are probably not interested in old Holy Cross Cemetery but information about old Holy Cross Cemetery can be obtained from Woodlawn Cemetery (410) 944-2600 and also the records for old Holy Cross are on microfilm reel number M2075 at the Md State Archives in Annapolis. I found a family tree called Killmeyer-Baltimore listed under Public Member Trees with her listed on it. Her maiden name was spelled MUCHNA, she was born in Mysliv, Bohemia. According to my grandmother, Edna, Sophie immigrated to the US when she was young, eleven years old I think, and worked as a servant for a Jewish family and they taught her english.
