I'm willing to bet that's the place because the funeral cortege went from there down to Mt. Carmel, and it's not that far away. Thanks so much for the suggestions. Guess I'll call them on Monday to confirm. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jsiemon Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8072.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: City Directories from that period listed an "Old" Methodist E. Cemetery on Philadelphia Road near the city line, which was at East Avenue back then. None that I looked at list a "New" cemetery. I followed a very detailed 1915 county map way up into the county and found no likely cemetery candidate on Philadelphia Road. There were several Hebrew cemeteries. The only "new" cemetery listed in the 1890's in that area was called Oak Hill (Horner's Lane near Philadelphia Road). That was the early name of the Bohemian National Cemetery http://cspslodge.wordpress.com/bohemian-national-cemetery-of-baltimore/ You mention it was "referred to" as "new M.E. Cemetery." Was that on a death certificate or death notice? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There are also some Taylors there, but I haven't figured out who I'm looking for yet. I'm pretty sure I found the Dormans I'm looking for in the online index for Book 1, p. 184. This should have a William Dorman d. 1865, another William d. 1876, and a Phillip d. 1888. There are several others in the same plot, and they're probably related. Author: FoxxTrotter Surnames: Bradley, Barnett, Gill, Robertson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.counties.baltimorecity/8071/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm trying to find any information on an Earl A. Bradley during his time residing in Maryland. He was the only son of Theodore E. Bradley and Eurette S. Barnett, born in January 1880 in Bloomfield Township, Pennsylvania. According to the 1920 U.S. Census, Earl was living with his brother-in-law James H. Gill in Brentwood, Maryland outside Washington, D.C. I believe his sister Mary Jane was Earl's wife although I can't find any details after her apparent birth in 1877. Earl was widowed by 1920. James and Mary Jane were the children of William C. Gill and Theresa Robertson of Washington. In reference to the obituary of Theodore Bradley in 1939, it says that his son Earl was killed in Baltimore about 15 years earlier...which would be around 1924. Unfortunately, the local library wasn't able to find an obituary or death notice for him in the Baltimore Sun. I can check with the Maryland State Archives for a death certificate, but it would help if I knew what year Earl act! ually died. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :0) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Another researcher of Accomack thinks he was from the Eastern Shore. The census records give Virginia as his birth place. I am guessing that his family were waterman and tended to move up and down the coast. Sarah Bloodsworth Watson with whom he was residing in the 1850 census had roots on Hollands Island in Maryland. 3. Did you know there is a "basin" along the old street car line from DC to Glen Echo the defunct amusement park. It is call the David Thomas Taylor Basin. And it was as much fun to ride the street car to Glen Echo from DC as to ride some of the rides. That was back in the late 50's. I don't know what's there now but you can check it out on google and maybe they might have pictures. Don't know if it was named for your David Taylor or not.

I'm guessing that could refer to the Third Order of St. Francis. The family was VERY Catholic. It was rather common, as far as I know, to belong to the Third Order of St. Francis and basically meant following a prayer schedule throughout the day. Nothing secretive or unusual about it. Not much different from what many spiritual people do today, even if not members of the Third Order. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
